Does anyone suffer with gut issues and pain mid cycle/during ovulation?

I’ll start be saying that do already suffer from IBS (have done for years), so have a history of gut issues. However…..

I know gut issues can often arise before periods but I find things are much worse mid cycle/during ovulation. I have always had this issue (and have also suffered with a lot of pelvic pain during ovulation) but as I’m getting older (currently in perimenopause), I am finding that my gut problems are getting so much worse and for a good week or so during mid cycle.

I experience an uprise in my digestive issues - nausea, gurgling and growling, excessive burping and farting, bloating and acid. Nothing seems to help and I’ve had endless tests and nothing picked up (although waiting for a pelvis mri just to check for possible endometriosis as my sister has it).

Does anyone else suffer from mid cycle issues? Have you found anything which helps ease it all.

I don't have digestion issues during ovulation, but have terrible pain! I had to take cocodamol last time as it was so bad. I've never mentioned it to a GP. It's only been like this since having kids.

I always had mid cycle ovulation pain and digestive issues. it was useful when TTC but could be really painful. I just took painkillers for the pain and colpermin, I think for the gut issues.

I get terrible ovulation pain, constipation and bloating mid cycle.

Yes I do. And it's definitely getting worse.

Could you try the pill, as it stops ovulation? I don't like it as it really lowers my mood but it might help.

Endometriosis cannot be ruled out here as it can get onto the intestines. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked out to see if endometriosis is present. Internal ultrasound scans and the like do not always detect it and it’s usually diagnosed via laparoscopy which is a keyhole surgery op.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich My gynaecologist has advised against the pill as I’m now 50 but has said to consider the mini pill or Mirena after my mri scan, he has said that I need to stop ovulation. Have you considered either of these?

AttilaTheMeerkat the gynaecologist is going to start off with the mri first off before possibly performing a lap. This is because I had a uterine ablation last year which has sadly failed and I now have post ablation syndrome and in immense pain during my period (the ovulation pain I’ve had for decades). I also have a very retroverted uterus which also tilts to the left so they want to take a look at all of that.
