I'm on daily dose Provera, 40mg per day, every day.
Am waiting for extensive gynae surgery due to pretty extreme 'issues' which cause daily vaginal bleeding. I've been daily bleeding for over 15 months since being internally injured during a gynae procedure last summer 2022.
Prior to that I was having 'normal' regular menstrual cycle and had no signs of entering menopause. I was bleeding abnormally heavily due to fibroids, adenomyosis, and had uterine polyps. However, I was rigorously checked for endometriosis and was 'clear'.
After being injured, I had to change hospitals as I'm taking legal action and the current one had to perform some type of corrective surgery. But even so I've been daily bleeding since the injury.
Current gynae put me on daily Provera, initially 10mg, and has increased the dose over time. Now I'm on 40mg. The bleeding has never stopped but has become lighter. It's no longer in any type of 'cycle' and is just a steady regular same amount every day, like a light to medium period. Obv this is making me v ill in its own right.
This is under the instruction of my consultant gynae surgeon. But she's not v communicative and anyhow soon the whole lot will be gone due to extensive surgery soon. But I have questions, if anyone knows:
-
Is this provera effectively putting me into menopause?
-
I feel so awful and tired all the time with chronic fatigue and a bit almost 'flu' sensations - have other people had that effect from Provera? I can barely function.
-
When I have the surgery I'll be gone into immediate surgical menopause - if I've already been put in a kind of menopause by the Provera does that mean I won't have much symptoms of actual menopause?
PS re my other threads - the issues are sorted, I'm now booked in for urgent surgery and had my questions answered.
