Hysteroscopy

Having a hysteroscopy next week.

They've told me to expect some period like cramps afterwards and to arrange someone else to drive me home.

Just wondered how long I'll be sore for as I've got to go into work the next which is train and 25minute walk!

Thanks

Are you having local anaesthetic?
Mine was under general anaesthetic. Some women have a horrific experience and some think it's OK. My sister was a bit traumatised by hers and they ended up offering gas and air part way through.

As far as I know they will only give local anaesthetic if I need a biopsy?

Pretty scared tbh, the leaflet says mild period cramps but if some women need a GA I'm scared it's going to hurt like hell

My Gynie does it under GA and I was in a lot of pain, cramping etc for 24 hours afterwards.
I would insist on a GA.

I had one prior to starting the road to IVF. No pain relief offered or given other, just reminders about breathing and a bit of moral support. Not the most comfortable procedure in the world, some spotting and cramps for the next few hours. But right as rain by the following day.

I have had one before and about to have another. It’s not the best experience but it’s not terrible as long as you can stay relaxed. It’s worse than a smear test (because it takes longer), I didn’t really feel that much, was given a LA into my cervix which I freaked out about as I wasn’t prepared (didn’t realise I would need it) but hardly felt a thing. When they start poking around and taking biopsies you will feel some period like pains which is a bit uncomfortable. I had cramps for the rest of the day but was fine the next day.

I wasn’t offered GA for my first one but have been offered for the 2nd but I declined as I didn’t want to be in hospital all day waiting.

Mine was way better than I thought. Had a bit of local anaesthetic, they had a poke around, I drove home 30mins mins later, few mild cramps in the evening and the next day and that was it and I had a coil fitted at the same time

I had a hysteroscopy and sample taken without any anaesthetic, just took two paracetamol an hour before, as per instructions.
The hysteroscopy was not painful at all, the sample was painful, but it only lasted a minute. I had no cramping and could have driven myself home.
I needed a pad as I was bleeding due to the sample.

Dear lord, those NHS cost savings really are butchery aren't they. I'm in Australia and it's under general here as a matter of course. I've had a couple and no discomfort whatsoever afterwards.
