Hi, not sure if I’m posting in the right group so I apologise if I’m wrong.
ok so a little background information, I’m 42, married with 6 yes 6 children ! 3 step children (young adults) and 3 which are and my husbands. I have had 3 C sections and suffered with pre eclampsia with my first. My children are 11,8 and 2.5years old. With my first son my blood pressure was extremely high and with my other boys I had a “text book” pregnancy apparently according to my midwife. Anyway fast forward 12 years and I’m finding that my bladder is getting weaker and weaker literally by the day ! As soon as I feel the urge it’s almost like I’m going to burst and now I’m finding it extremely hard to keep it in until I can reach a bathroom whether that’s at home or whilst out. I’m finding this very embarrassing, bloody hell I’m 42 not 92 ! I even had a dream about going to the toilet for a wee and I woke up to find myself just weeing myself like I was on the toilet ☹️. Can anyone relate to this or give any advice on anything I can do. Thank you I’m advance

There’s an NHS app for this … squeezy

if this fails go see your GP and ask to be referred on to a specialist

maybe look into irritants, this includes caffeine I think

Thank you for your reply, I’ll have a look for the app. God I hope it’s not caffeine…… I need the stuff to get through each day haha x

Hi - or consider going private to a specialised pelvic floor physio (£40 plus per session and you might need a few sessions)

My local hospital has a 8 month wait for a urologist.

Don't be like me and ignore it for years .. do something now
xx

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I can’t afford that kind of money but I do appreciate your input. But I definitely have to do something about it x

Hi - on reflection at least 1 session will help you identify the pelvic floor muscles but you might be able to find them yourself using the various app's and help online.

best wishes

It may be the case that you can’t afford not to tbh 😬 you really want to get a handle on it now!

I have a Kegel8 machine which might work out cheaper but I do think getting a professional to make sure you’re doing them right is essential.

I have an overactive bladder, DH does too and we both have been told to cut out caffeine. Fizzy drinks, including water makes me pee more.
As well as pelvic floor exercises I have Vesicare on prescription to help with the peeing ( I have urge incontinence after a prolapse repair)

I have urgency. I thought it was due to 3 vaginal deliveries and weak pelvic floor. Went to a women's health physio after putting up with it for about 3 years.

She said it wasn't pelvic floor but connected with Peri menopause and lack of oestrogen.

So step 1 was vaginal oestrogen.
Step 2 - experiment with cutting out carbonated drinks (sparkling water is my water of choice!), squash, caffeine.
Step 3 - trying to relax when I feel the need to go until the urgent feeling passes by and then going when I am more in control. I was madly tensing everything to "hold it in" as I thought it was pelvic floor related. Her advice was that this made the bladder muscles go into more of a spasm (can't remember exact words she used to explain). Her advice was instead to sit down, relax, let the feeling pass and then go.

I have to work on all these steps and then go back to her if the problem isn't solved.

It is making a difference especially the oestrogen I think.

I would try the GP as first step and if not see if you can go to a women's health physio.

She also checked me for a prolapse. Said I had a very mild one but that she didn't think that was the cause of the urgency - to try the steps first and she's investigate further if thief didn't help. She also checked my pelvic floor strength and said it was ok.

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. Trouble is, as soon as I feel like I need a wee, I HAVE to go ! I end up shuffling along crossed legged to the toilet and embarrassing as it is I sometimes can’t stop it and the wee ends up coming out without me even realising until I feel it 😢 I’m just grateful we have 2 bathrooms haha. I’m trying the pelvic floor muscle exercise as my 1st step but if I don’t see any sign of improvement I’m going to have to go to the doctors. I don’t want to be the women who wet’s herself x

thank you for your reply. I’m not a huge drinker of water but I NEED caffeine to get me through the day ! I would cry if I was told to cut that out ! I’m trying the pelvic floor exercises as my 1st step so will see how that goes x
