Erratic periods - is this a thing on its own and could it be the cause of symptoms

Hi,

I've seen a private gynae who was running an event on Periods, Fibroids & Menopause who has completely calmed me down over my Fibroid. They don't think the Fibroid is causing the problems I'm going through.
I don't have the classic heavy bleeds of Fibroids but certainly erratic periods - I can never rely on when it is due and it is already late this month if I were to try and go by last month.

Oh my goodness, I think I've been really blonde and it just never occurred to me before - can erratic periods on their own cause symptoms? for instance, whilst I'm late this month I do actually notice the dragging/heavy sensation has ramped up and I'm sure I'm getting tugs below.

Following a re-scan being done and I presume if it hasn't grown, I've been recommended the Mirena coil - does this stop periods completely or make them regular? I must admit I was tempted to buy oral contraceptives as it seems you can buy online now but then I'm sure I've heard contraception can make a Fibroid grow as a risk?

Another thing is they didn't talk about peri at all - only the menopause, it was said to probably take 2 coils over the next decade and head for menopause at around 52.

Do you have pain in the lower abdomen throughout your cycle, pain down into legs? Google symptoms of adenomyosis if you haven't heard of it. It could be that?

Many thanks for the guidance.

Heavy legs but to be honest I'd thought that was related to a long-term condition that had been treated. The longer the no period has gone on this month, it could be nerves but I noticed my back is getting worryingly sore.

I don't have access to the NHS scan report done earlier this year. Just know the size of what was considered a small fibroid and that's it. I chased the nhs gynae dept today and got told another couple of months wait.

I was chatting to my Mum yesterday and she said one of my cousins recently (also childless) has been refused the coil as it shouldn't be put in non-childbearing women as the cervix isn't open as much. leading to it possibly not an easy procedure. I know the private hospital said it's removable if it doesn't suit but once you've had it inserted privately I presume the NHS may not deal with it later down the line?
