Advised no wig during 6 weeks of radiotherapy

I have a very lovely friend who has been wearing wigs for many years due to permanent hair loss from previous treatment. Unfortunately she is facing another 6 weeks of radiotherapy for brain tumours and has been advised she should not wear her hair for the 6 weeks.

Anyone who has experience of this, does that include all headwear? She loves to walk her dog and as it's going to be nov/December I would love to buy her a beautiful warm hat for her birthday, but I'm wondering if the advice extends to no headwear, or if it's specific to wigs due to their close fitting and length of time it's likely to be worn?

Anyone with any personal experience who can confirm for me as i don't want to give such a gift that actually is not suitable and another reminder of her situation.

It won't be the only gift I give but would love to include one if not inappropriate.
Thanks

Radiotherapy can cause tender skin, skin burns, sensitivity and open wounds (family member suffering all of those right now) so I’m guessing that’s why she can wear wigs. A nice soft head scarf or (non itchy) hat might be nice.

Thanks, I figured that's why you can buy a loose fit chemo beanie but just curious if there is something else I'm missing
