I am definitely peri menopausal. Have been feeling ok in general but tired and getting some hot flushes but not too bad. However, I have also been getting some cold flushes/shivers. At first I thought maybe it was just cold or I was coming down with something but having googled apparently it can be a menopause symptom. In feel the cold anyway so I really don’t need this!

has anyone else had this as a symptom?

Yes I did! Shivers to the point where I’d have goosebumps and my teeth would chatter. Had more cold flushes than hot ones. I’m on HRT now but still get them occasionally. Similar to you I feel the cold as well. I just assumed temperature fluctuations could go both ways.

Yep - I’ve been cold all my life, so wasn’t dreading hot flushes…but oh no, cold flushes for me! Just like when you have a fever.
Think I read about 10% of people get cold rather than hot.
They don’t actually bother me too much, aching joints, burning mouth and dry eyes are the worst at present!

Yes, I got both for a while. It stopped eventually in favour of other symptoms.

I used to get a hot one immediately followed by a cold one. I seemed to be forever taking my clothes on and off!

Thanks for posting. Glad it’s not just me!

Same here, exactly! I had them every 10 minutes one evening. Boiling, then freezing, never stopped fidgeting with clothes and blankets. That was that, straight onto a low carb diet and HRT.

Also just an FYI, feeling the cold can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Before I was diagnosed I'd feel so cold in the evenings it made me feel sick, even in jumpers, blankets and wrist warmers.

Me too! Someone told me that your internal thermometer goes off the scale during menopause so it's not just hot flushes, it's just that these are more debilitating. Makes sense.
