Anyone use oestradiol?

GP has prescribed it for me because I have scar tissue from tearing having dc a long time ago and it is getting aggravated sometimes by sex. She says how it is very minor in hormones as it’s topical but said she didn’t know if it had any affect if you’re having sex with a man?! Bit odd. Am I likely to get any side effects from it?

Topical estrogen is very safe to use. It is equal to just two systemic HRT tablet a year if applied each day. The only side effect is less discomfort! I have used it for several years and my partner has not developed breasts yet, apparantly that is a worry to some men but is nonsense.

Thanks @DeerWatch so do you take it every day? GP said do it every night for a month? Then reduce it down? Which I’m not sure why? If it’s safe why I need to stop it? I was a bit surprised that was what was suggested as I thought it was just for symptoms surrounding menopause (which I don’t yet have) but I guess it’s a bonus it can be used for my problem? I just haven’t come across anything that suggests it would benefit me but I will give it a go. I don’t have any lubrication problem just the old scar tissue getting irritated which is why I’m not sure why it’s only temporary use?

After the initial "loading" of the tissues - which is usually for three weeks - the usual dosage is two applications (spaced out roughly equally) per week.

@greenhydrangea thank you. The GP didn’t give me much info hence asking on here and trying to google as i went in asking if there was any kind of alteration I could have and she said no, hence the cream, but if I’m not peri menopausal how will this help very old scar tissue?

It plumps up the skin cells. I don't see any harm in trying it for a few months to see if it helps your situation, and if it does keep it up.
