Gynae probs

All

So I do have a doctors appointment on Friday but I wanted to see what your thoughts were on what my symptoms could be please? I’ve been pushed from pillar to post since 2022 and still nowhere near an answer and I’m really getting fed up.
They haven’t referred me to Gynae and I’m constantly in there getting fobbed off. I want to be go in to the doctors and go in with a clear pathway and push it. I just wanted to see what you all may think?

Sorry for the slight rant!

I would ask for a referral, do not be fobbed off with yet more blood tests etc.

Endometriosis cannot be ruled out here re bowel and bladder symptoms.

What if anything has been said about the cysts on ovaries, have you been advised what type they are.

If you have the means to pay for an initial consultation with a gynaecologist at your local private hospital do so. This is also because waiting times to see a gynaecologist on the NHS are miles long.

BoohooWoohoo · 11/09/2023 15:20

I think that you need an MRI to see if it's endo. I have it and the bowel/bladder stuff is familiar.

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 15:35

@AttilaTheMeerkat thank you for responding. They just said normal cysts nothing to be concerned about. I saw a gynaecologist privately who referred me for the ultrasound and transvaginal scan and after that she told me there was nothing abnormal but would perhaps recommend a MRI or laparoscopy to see what there is. The thing is I just cannot afford a laparoscopy privately and worried how long it may take on NHS.
I think I’m just getting fed up with my doctors not doing anything and not even referring me to the gynaecologist at NHS and they just keep saying well nothing on blood tests or scans so off you trot effectively.
Sorry for the rant!

@BoohooWoohoo I have managed to book a private one for tomorrow luckily. Just unsure what to do from there if anything does show. Interestingly I never gave endo a thought until my partner mentioned it to me the other day and the more I sort of delve into it the more I’m thinking it could be it. They have not said a single thing to me just other than nothing on scan so you are fine! I’m obviously not when I’m constantly in this pain I’m not making it up!
Can I ask have you always had endo?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/09/2023 15:46

Endometriosis if present does not show up on internal ultrasound scans, the lap is suggested if endometriosis is suspected. The endometriosis I’ve had never showed up on blood tests or scans. It was laparoscopic type surgery that revealed it.

It depends on where you live also but waiting lists to see a gynae, let alone to have a lap op, are very long in many areas.

Octavia64 · 11/09/2023 15:46

Endometriosis.

I have it and your list of symptoms and mine are basically the same.

I had to pay for a private laparoscopy ( or rather my grandma did - thanks Gran!) as the NHS wouldn't even put me on the waiting list.

LarryStylinson · 11/09/2023 15:47

Also ask for adenomyosis to be ruled out

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 15:49

@Octavia64 thank you for responding.
Can I ask if you have always had it?

Ah amazing thank you Nan! This is what worries me though, I don’t have the funds to be able to pay privately for operation, but I suppose I’ll have to cross that bridge when it comes to it.

How long did you suffer from your symptoms before they done anything?

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 15:50

@LarryStylinson ok thank you. What is that please? I haven’t heard of that before (sorry for ignorance!)

Are they that long? Saw mine and was put on urgent list - major operation done in 3 weeks.

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 15:52

@AttilaTheMeerkat ok thank you. I have the MRI tomorrow as I had enough and hoping something shows. I live in Hampshire and the private gynae told me that it would be at least a year and her urgent one she referred was 8 months, so I’m not holding breath.

@NowWhattt 3 weeks is amazing. So happy you managed to get seen. The private gynae told me that on NHS I would be waiting at least a year if not urgent.
I am going to speak to doctor on Friday and see what she says as I’ve been in and out of there and hospital for a year now and I surely can’t go on longer like this.

I had symptoms from my first period when I was about 13. All my periods have been painful and eventually the pain was there all the time.

Bowel symptoms started up when I was about 15.

The doctors gave me painkillers and the pill.
I ran the pill together so would only have a period every six months or so.

When I was about 20 it got really bad and I was in a lot of pain and very ill so my uni medical centre got me admitted.

The hospital thought I had pelvic inflammatory disease and gave me loads of anti biotics.

My grandma knew how ill I was and gave me money to see a gynae privately, he said I don't think you have endo but I'm happy to do an exploratory lap to rule it out.

He did the lap and found loads of endo and multiple ovarian cysts.

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 15:58

@Octavia64 I am so sorry you have had to endure that from an early age. How are you feeling now?
I do have one healthy son it would be nice to have another and that’s my worry.

I would say OP that although women often start to experience symptoms of endometriosis in their teenage years, it can also start or at least only be noticed a bit later in life, into 20's and 30's and perhaps later. So don't discard that as a possibility if you didn't have symptoms when you were younger. Best wishes to you!

Octavia64 · 11/09/2023 16:36

I don't have any problems now.

I had kids and then after kids I went on first the depo injection and then the implant.

I didn't get any periods on either of them. My kids are now adults.

I did about 10 years ago have a break between depo injections and the period was just as horrendous and painful as ever so I just thought fuck that and have never had another one.

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 17:04

@Smittenkitchen hey, definitely not discounting I was just wondering when others had started as this has only started really since birth of my son ☺️ I think it is endo and I would be surprised if I was to walk away tomorrow with nothing showing x

I had a partial hysterectomy last week. Mine was pretty urgent hence the three weeks.
Good luck to you all 🩷

MamaAl27 · 11/09/2023 19:37

@NowWhattt hope you are recovering well

Sat in a spinal bed in early 2023. Oh periods won't have something to do with this. (You can bet they do!)

No they won't

Hilary: At GP's why do you need a smear test?.

Me: Cos something feels not right (I've also had a gran and her sister with woman's cancer die apparently, oh when it suits)

GP: 2023 What does a HPV-positive test mean I do not know.

Time to start learning...

reallyunderstandsometimes · 13/09/2023 00:48

You can get endometriosis post C-section.

In essence endometriosis are cells similar to the lining of your womb, not the actual lining. But when women have C-sections the movement and incision can leave endometrial lesions.

It can also flare up your endometriosis that you had prior to having your baby.

Add that into post C-section scaring and you could have a few overlapping issues here.

But I would say ask for all of the list to be looked at separately, not just lumped as one condition.

MamaAl27 · 14/09/2023 11:49

So just to let you all know I received my MRI results! I have no idea what it all means but going docs tomorrow! Thank you for all your help xx
