Shrinking fibroids

Can fibroids shrink naturally?

I have one outside my uterus wall and its putting pressure on my uterus causing it to be bulky.

I'm also in some discomfort now, in the respect of a full heavy feeling in my abdomen and spotting.

I've been on HRT for a good while and believe it may have contributed or caused this problem.

After a gynae appointment today, where a womb biopsy was taken and an MRI of the fibroid requested, I'm taking myself off HRT. I'm
scared of it growing any bigger ( it's already 6cm!!)

Any success stories of these fibroids shrinking? Otherwise it's surgery or embolisation, I'm guessing?

Thanks.

@SoftPillowAllNight thank you so much!

So it was one fibroid? Was it in the uterus? I have multiple 7-9cm fibroids inside, outside and on top of my uterus.
Have all your symptoms stopped now?

Hi there
I’ve also got multiple fibroids - the largest being 8cm in the wall of my uterus. I’m hopefully having a hysterectomy at the end of June. I was given the other alternative but am going down the hysterectomy route as I was it over once and for all. There is always a chance fibroids will grow back again. I’m on Zoladex at the moment to stop it growing further which isn’t great side effects wise, but not so bad . I also shouldn’t have to have another period now until the op which is a bonus as my periods are horrific.
I genuinely cannot wait to have the operation. I want my life back!!

@MissUnicorn - mine was 1 large intramural fibroid and 2 very small fibroids. All treated with a single embolisation procedure. The small ones are not seen on US any longer and the large one has shrunk 2cm. I was told the treatment is the same for multiple fibroids.

My main symptom was pressure on the uterus, bladder and surrounding organs causing pain discomfort and bladder issues. They are not completely gone but much better now and will improve further as the fibroid shrinks.

If you are in London or nearby, I would recommend you look up Dr W.J.Walker who is a pioneer in this field and did my procedure. He has a waiting list for the procedure but will be able to see you for consultation fairly quickly which will give you some answers for the type of fibroids you have.

Please DM me and I'm happy to have a more detailed chat.

@Blabla81 I hope it goes well for you.
I understand getting to the point where you just want it all gone.
I've been putting up with this since I was 9 years old, but I'm really nervous about having an operation.
Have you decided to keep your ovaries and cervix?

@SoftPillowAllNight Thank you much! I'm glad that you're happy with your procedure and that your symptoms are continually improving. I'm not anywhere near London, but thank you for the recommendation.

His website is very informative and the videos were very helpful. I'm going to do a bit more reading and will DM you soon. Thanks again. x

Yes the consultant wants to take the cervix and one ovary as there is a mass on there too. Obviously it’s best to keep one if possible, to stop me going into menopause. I am nervous about it - it will be open abdominal surgery as the waiting list for a laparoscopy is way too long and it also would hard apparently with the size of the fibroid but I just want it all gone - sleeping at night is getting harder and harder and my bladder is suffering constantly too. I went for months not being able to pass urine properly as my uterus was blocking things and now I’ve got the opposite problem and my urethra appears to have prolapsed slightly. Ugh I hate all these changes that hormones and age bring.
