Minipill or mirena for potential peri?

Hi all
Turning 40 and very heavy periods have started so I'd rather tackle now if possible rather than waiting for potential horrific flooding to start (I'm a teacher, I just couldn't manage it...)
I uses to be on mini pill but not since kids. Wondering why people would choose mirena over mini pill for heavy periods? Heard so much about painful insertions with mirena and worried about it as I have a mild prolapse, compared to taking a pill every morning. Why did you choose coil over mini pill? Thankyou

I've had mirena for years (at least 17) and no problems

Insertion isn't that bad, but now they give you gas and air if you want!!

If you choose the Mirena and then decide you want HRT, the Mirena will give you the progesterone element and you'll just need to add the oestrogen.

The Mirena stopped my heavy perimenopausal periods completely.

Sorry to seem stupid but if on the mini pill does that not give you the progesterone element too or is it not enough?
