I need advice!! I get cold sores really really bad due to my terrible immune system cream and all that don’t work on my massive cold sores I’ve started using Compeed cold sore patches and did a lot research on it and it’s the best choice for me to stick with them but just wondering if any has experienced the cold sores not getting better when using this product? I’ll attach a pic below with my current situation but the swelling won’t go down and looks like it’s increasing in size but the cold sores have not gotten bigger they have just started to look fluid like and all white on top, I know this product is the best way to go to stop spread etc but the swelling is ridiculous and it’s so incredibly painful so youse reckon that’s just because of the severity of my cold sore and not from the product? Help!!

Also a sufferer of cold sores and I stopped using these years ago as I didn't feel like they helped.
For me the most effective treatment is using ice on the area, as often as I can for as long as I can. This takes the burn and swelling down for me.
I also take lysine during an outbreak and the antiviral acyclovir from the Dr.
Have you tried these or any other treatments?

I don’t suffer with them but my teenage daughter does - I thought these were a great idea . She tried them and she found they didn’t work either so has gone back to the cream !

I use them every time I get one and the knack is to catch them at the tingle . They reduce the size they grow but they will keep them wet

I usually patch for 3 days back to back then allow it to scab which they do without the patch and then they will be gone in 7 days

Hi, I can really relate to you, I used to suffer several times a year. I now take Lysine daily and also have a box of Aciclivor (sp?) tablets in the cupboard at all times. These are the only things that help me.
I still get the tingling of an occasional one, but the tablets generally put a stop to anything major. I may get a slight bump on my lip but it rarely gets worse than that. I always have them on me if I go away etc and keep them in my handbag day to day.
I really wouldn't waste money on over the counter things if you are a regular sufferer. Have a chat with your GP, the tablets have been a real game changed for me.

I feel for you, they are horrible things!!!

I'm immunosuppressed and get them often. I've got to be dead careful as they can land me in hospital if they get out of hand.

Get hold of your GP and get Acyclovir tablets. I have to take 400mg 5 times a day for 7 days and it really does sort it out.
