Mine does bother me and is quite uncomfortable at times. I could get away with not having it fixed but I’m fed up of how I have to go to the toilet these day

TaraRhu · 19/09/2023 21:14

@UpUpUpU sorry to hear that. I am very lucky that it's not causing issues.

Hi op, In August I was told surgery would be 8-10 months but I’ve got my pre op appointment on Tuesday so lm very confused as to when my op will be. Hopefully I will find out more then. If anyone has any questions they want answered I can always ask next week.

I had this surgery 10 years ago. It was successful but it's a long recovery. No lifting of anything much heavier than a cup of tea for the first couple
of weeks and not back to full daily activity for about three months, I went back to work (office job) after 6 weeks, I couldn't sit comfortably on an office chair for a full day before that.

How did any of you ladies get on? I’m waiting for my op but concerned about the recovery time.

Driedonion · 15/10/2024 22:29

Yes 18 years ago. It failed after 6 months. I went for a further assessment about 8 years ago and opted not to have any further surgery as I felt the risks outweighed the benefits since I had no symptoms as long as I didn’t become constipated.
It was fixed transvaginally by the gynaecologist the first time but I had a much more thorough investigation by the colorectal surgeon the second time- they did pressure tests and were able to give a balanced view of the pros and cons of surgical intervention.

@Paperdolly in the end the consultant said I didn't need the operation. I'm not surprised as my wife prolapse doesn't bother me. So I'm doing pelvic floor exercises and monitoring it.

I had this 14 years ago. Wasn't the primary purpose of the op but surgeon said I had a mild rectocele and so she could do a 2-for-1. I was a daycase. Don't notice it at all.
