Breast lump - new breastfeeding mum

i wondered if anyone had any advise/experience with breast lumps whilst feeding.

im currently exclusively feeding my 10 week old baby. I had suspected mastitis in my left breast (flu symptoms and pain), which cleared up with massage, heat etc. my supply dropped drastically so I spent a couple of days power pumping etc which worked well and the supply increased. I woke up a few days ago to the left breast feeling engorged and a small lump sticking out. After feeding the lump appeared to decrease but Is still palpable (around the size of a lentil, fairly firm and completely smooth).

I went to the GP who felt both breasts and said there was multiple in the left breast and that they are ‘pockets of milk in the breast tissue’ - I should have asked more at the time but when googling I can’t what what that means, is this something anyone else has experienced? They’re not painful and I can’t seem to massage them out. When I press on them it produces milk from the nipple.

the bit that’s worried me is that she said if they’re still there in a couple of months come back and they will be scanned. If they were just harmless breastfeeding related lumps why would I need to go back? She said they don’t feel suspicious at all.

I have bad health anxiety so I’m fretting over why I would need to go back in a couple of months. I’d be so grateful for any advise

Something similar happened to me. I felt a lump so made an appointment with the doctor. She felt it and said it felt like milk but she was going to send me for a scan just to put my mind at rest. By the time I got scanned at the hospital the lump had become infected. The doctor gave me antibiotics and sort of syringed the infected milk out. I had to go back a few times because my boob kept filling with infected milk but it wouldn't come out of my nipple if that makes sense? They syringed it out a few more times.

Hopefully, because you can still breast feed, the milk won't have a chance to say in your boob long enough to get infected. Your doctor might just want to keep an eye on you to make sure it doesn't become infected.
