Terrified of brain tumour

I know this sounds irrational but bare with me.

I am mid 30s, and generally in good health except being a little overweight.

Recently I have been suffering from persistent headaches which feel like a tension/sinus headache. I take pain killers and they don't work.

The pain is not debilitating or doesn't affect my daily life it's just a pain I can't shake.

I had my eyes tested within the last 2 weeks for another issue so no problems with my vision.

I'm terrified that it could be something more sinister. A friend of a friend developed a brain tumour young and she is adamant is was due to mobile phone use (apparently she slept with her phone under her pillow). I don't do this however do use my phone a lot.

I called the doctor and they didn't think I needed to be seen particularly urgently and just told me to keep taking regular over the counter pain killers.

Can anyone put my mind at ease? What could it be? As I said I know it sounds dramatic/irrational.

If you’re taking painkillers and they aren’t working, I’d suggest your problem is anxiety and not a brain tumour.

How recently is recently? I suffer from migranes and I find mine are triggered often by the weather, the past few weeks I’ve had more than ever before, not sure if it’s due to the constant changing weather we’ve been having! I’ve heard a lot of my friends complaining of headaches also! Anxiety and stress can also cause headaches so it’s probably a catch 22 for you :(

I saw a GP , secretly thinking I had a brain tumour. The GP said the pain from that would probably wake me in the night. And I would have other symptoms.

Turned out it was migraines. Got prescribed some preventative tablets that often work.

You don't mention any red flags, but you could check for them here Better safe than tumour - Signs and Symptoms (headsmart.org.uk) which may help put your mind at rest.

Thanks for all your responses.

Recently as in the past couple of weeks. I did think it maybe related to the muggy weather however I was worried as it isn't lifting.

I've also never suffered from migraines either however did have a visual migraine earlier in the what but no associated headache.

I have an appointment with the GP next week so hopefully they can put my mind at ease.

I have 2 friends. One developed headaches and after mri etc was diagnosed with migraines.
Another had absolutely no headaches at all and after a seizure was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
It’s much more likely to be migraines. Worth getting checked out. But unlikely to be a tumour

@Gymmum82 thanks for this :)

I think it could be migraines that I am now developing.

When I had the visual migraine it seemed to coincide with my periods weirdly and my periods have been a bit all over the place the last few months.

I had a IUD fitted so maybe it's causing these migraines.
