Polyp removal from uterus

Hi just checking if anyone's had this done, I had a scan a few months ago which confirmed I have a polyp.

I was then told I'd hear from gynaecology but it could take two years, yesterday I had a phone call booking me in for day surgery!

Feeling a bit unsure now, my periods are heavy but not unmanageable, I'm 44yo.

If you've had it done was it worth it?

I have had a hysteroscopy and had 3 large polyps removed. It stopped my bleeding totally as I was post menopausal. The process was quite unpleasant but in my opinion with doing.

Yes definitely worth it for me. I had polyps removed and coil put in under general as my cervix was hard to find. Periods all but stopped.

It was unpleasant but quick. There was no consent form so I assume there can’t be any significant risks. I understand that they are rarely cancerous but it’s best to get rid of them.

I had a cervical polyp removed which from the other comments might have been a different procedure but it was pretty simple, procedure took about 15 mins at hospital and I was back to normal in about a week

Thank you for your replies, I'm still not sure.

My periods are heavy for two days but not unmanageable, no bleeding between periods.

I'm just not sure it's needed if the polyps aren't causing big issues...

It's definitely worth having it done just so they can confirm there's no risk of cancer. I had mine removed under general anaesthetic. In and out in a day. Actually found it all quite relaxing!

I am booked for this procedure. No real issues with periods but I have a small amount of bleeding every time I have sex which has really put me off sex. So I'm going to get them removed.

I was told I needed mine removed as they potentially could be cancerous. I had a local anesthetic - it took about 30 mins but I was back to work the day after. Honestly worth having done. Unpleasant but honestly ok.

Thanks all, looks like I'll have to go for it 😕 like you say better safe than sorry.

sorry to disappoint but there are risks, your treatment has gone well, I have been told and signed the form which stated the dangers of being cut into my bladder or through the cervix or uterus.

Everything has risks. Have you read the possible side effects for paracetamol?! But having a potentially cancerous growth removed is a risk worth taking IMO. Hope it went well OP.
