What would you describe as heavy period?

Typically my periods last from 5-7 days.

I will have a day of light bleeding requiring a panty liner, followed by 2 days of heavy bleeding where I’ll change a super plus tampon every 2/3 hours - often bleeding through the night. Day four will be again, typically light like day 1.

My blood tests show anaemia. My diet isn’t great but I’m wondering if these periods could be the cause? GP follow up in week or so.

Mine are typically heavier than that I think. I can bleed through a super plus tampon in around an hour. So I don’t wear tampons without a pad too. I bleed through the black plus nighttime pads. I’ll sit down and maybe have 4/5 “plops” come out and the whole toilet is red. Clots maybe the size of my palm (no fingers just the hand part) but mine are not regular so maybe this is part of the problem. If I don’t have a tampon in when getting out of the bath then I leave red spots all over the floor (can’t shower, it would run down my legs)

day 4 is nothing unless I wipe - and then day 5 it comes back to get me for one last day before disappearing as quickly as it came.

Just to add that I am 💯 not anaemic either, I have high iron (genetic condition) and if not for the periods would have to give blood.

Stupid question. From what you are describing, I have had heavy periods for a few years, but never considered I might be anaemic. I do get tired and can be breathless, but my GP didn't do blood tests. I have a very good diet though, and multivits, so assumed I "top up" naturally.

worldwidetravel2017 endo can only really be seen via laparoscopic procedures although there is a specialist mri but I think it’s hard to get. My sisters endo was never picked up via scans.

Which they cant ignore so will see what happens..

Ask 4 feretin & b12 blood tests

I'm in a similar boat. I use a cup and will have to change every two hours or it floods. Overnight I usually use the cup, plus a super towel and still often need to change bedding in the morning lots of clotts. But only for 2 days the rest is light. I also suffer from terrible fatigue (always have) get lots of mouth ulcers, have heart palpitations. Generally feel terrible all the time and run down. Was investigated for autoimmune disorders when younger due to fatigue and joint pain. I called up for my blood test results today they showed
folate 12.3
B12 331
Vit D 82
ferritin 13
Apparently these are all normal (except ferritin borderline) so the results line said no need to go back and see the doctor. Doesn't help with the fatigue, heavy legs, generally run down feeling that is causing my mood to plummet. I'm 41 I don't know if that is the reason, I'm pretty sure the GP is not interested.
