Hi I am looking for some reassurance.
Today I had an appointment at the breast clinic, the are of concern was marked up, however I do t feel like the doctor marked the correct area, not far from but still it was the exact area. My question is would the ultrasound have still picked it up if there was something? I'm worried it was missed. Why don't they just scan the whole boob, Iv come away feeling more anxious.

This happened to me. A mammogram picked up an area of concern. I went straight into another room for an ultrasound. The tech spend a good 20 minutes focused on just that part of the breast.

He said he was 90% sure it was a papilloma but to talk to my GP about the results. I talked with her and due to my family history I decided to get a biopsy rather than wait 6 months and do a repeat mammogram.

Biopsy confirmed it was a papilloma. The ultrasound tech was spot on. They don’t take chances with this OP.

They would t give me a mammogram they said I was too young, I'm 35 so I don't consider that too Young personally. I just feel stressed out.

I think I’d push for a mammogram OP. Don’t take no for an answer.

Mammograms are difficult to read on younger women because the breast tissue is denser I think that maybe why they did an ultrasound. You could phone the clinic and ask to put your mind at rest.

This.

If an area of concern was marked up, the radiologist performing the ultrasound would absolutely ensure they checked it.

I'm 48 and was recently referred to a breast clinic with a lump I had found myself. The lump did not show at all on the mammogram due to (my) dense breast tissue. However, the radiologist doing the ultrasound located it and did a core biopsy on it.

Many studies have shown that ultrasounds can be the most effective screening method for breast lumps. In fact, it is usual that if a breast MRI shows an area of concern, an ultrasound if performed.

I think what I'm trying to ask is, how far can the ultrasound see, like the area distance? When I got home and saw the pen marks it was an inch away from the actual area, so I mean would that area still have been seen if you know what I mean, do they just look at that one spot that is marked or the surrounding area. Xx
