Prolapse treatment

I saw my GP around 14 yrs ago as I felt I had a vaginal prolapse. It was confirmed to be a prolapse but was quite small. It is now getting much more uncomfortable and hanging out lower than previously. I reached the menopause a couple of years ago and it has definitely got worse since then. I use ovestin gel which had been helping but seems to not be working anymore. 3 years ago about the same time as I reached menopause I started running and often do 5 or 10k runs and I am sure this making the prolapse worse,

14 yrs ago it was quite mild and I was told there is nothing that can be done for prolapses apart from pelvic floor exercises but it is getting pretty uncomfortable now and don't know if it worth seeing the GP if it really is something I have to live with.

Any advice from anybody who has seen a GP about a prolapse recently and the treatment options available, would be much appreciated.

See gp. But also make an appointment to be assessed by a pelvic floor physio - you can get this done outside of gp and in my experience they are much better informed and able to assess you and offer suggestions/exercises/ treatments to improve your situation.

massively more helpful and worth their weight in gold compared to a go in my experience. They would also be able to refer you back to gp / specialist if they felt surgery might be more of a solution.
