Green vaginal discharge

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 09/07/2023 23:28

Over the past few years I seem to be getting a lot of vaginal discharge. It it's like cervical mucous but like a light snotty green colour.

When I first had it years ago I contacted my GP who said it's definitely not a sexually transmitted disease and I guess it would've made me ill or been obvious if it was since there was no treatment. Surely I would suffer from it if it was and also my husband has no issues.

I have a 4yr old and 19m old and have pretty much breastfed since I had my first born. Just a few months gap in between becoming pregnant and giving birth to the youngest.

But now it have copious amounts of it. Any time I'm at the toilet and wipe there is always a big blob of this greeny discharge. When I've tried to take a photo of it, it just looks creamy coloured and not as green as it does in real-life.

Would this just be my hormones causing this? Does anyone else have this?

Have they actually done a swab and tested it? I'd get a second opinion.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 09/07/2023 23:30

Does it smell at all? The only time I had this type of discharge it was very smelly and I had bacterial vaginosis

ToBeOrNotToBee · 09/07/2023 23:31

There's an infection somewhere, could be BV. Either way the green is caused by the bodies response to infection.

Greenfishy · 09/07/2023 23:33

Is it frothy? There’s something called trich which is green. I’d get yourself to the sexual health clinic pronto

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 09/07/2023 23:36

Doesn't smell at all.
Not itchy
Not frothy

I tried taking a photo a while ago but I'd say this isn't as green. Its not super snot green or anything but a light green.

Photo not necessary. But really OP - go get a swab done. That's the only way to know if there's an issue.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 09/07/2023 23:45

I'm really worried now if it is this trich thing. I had two vaginal births. Could I have passed it on to my children. Would they show signs?

Had this for a couple of years now and had every test going all came back ok. It's been put down to my fluctuations in hormones. It is annoying though .

Cakeandcoffee93 · 10/07/2023 00:11

Omg I get this- I’ve figured it’s literally hormones and always when I’m ovulating- it’s your mucus lining
some women have more than others
how strange

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 10/07/2023 00:11

See I do think it is a hormonal thing. Did your go suggest anything @Wiccan or is it just something to put up with?

Mine just seems constant at the mo. Although my youngest has been feeding more recently due to illness and teething so I'm wondering if that's playing a part.

i will definitely speak to gp anyway as it is getting me down

It's trichimonas vaginalis. Not routinely tested for in GP, but they do test for it at GUM clinic.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 18/07/2023 13:36

Well it isn't because I had my swab results after contacting the gp after starting this thread
Swabs came back normal..

Greenfishy · 18/07/2023 19:29

But did they test for trich? As someone said above GP’s don’t routinely test for it. Maybe ring and check?

breathequietly · 18/07/2023 20:03

I had this and it was put down to an overgrowth of a type of bacteria that shouldn't really be there in high quantities but not an STI

Definatly hormonal for me. All tests came back clear. On HRT now and doctor and nurse said it's just how my body is now .

sentinent · 19/07/2023 12:08

GPS cannot test for Trichomonas.

Well they did! I did a swab, they sent it off. I'm in Scotland not sure if that makes it different. But the gp told me to come in, collect a swab, they will test for Trichomonas vaginalis.
🤷

Yes, that is what the doctor told me they were going to test for, specifically

I get this. Had it for about 6 years since the birth of my first son.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 19/07/2023 12:51

And did it then just disappear?
Since I posted initially I have noticed a reduction in discharge with just the odd blood every few days.

Maybe I should track it! See if it correlates with my cycle even though I'm not actually having a period yet 🤔

No. I still get it sometimes. It doesn't smell or itch, it's a creamy consistency. I had a lot of discharge in my second pregnancy ( 18 months ago ) and was swabbed and all came back ok.

Well I dont know then love 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 19/07/2023 19:33

Nope. No smell, no itch.
I'm certain of its just a hormonal thing. But it's annoying!
