Since having my last child(1 year ago) I have been experiencing pain inside my bum and around my pelvic area when needed a poo. It really is so very uncomfortable but it soon passes after I manage to go to the toilet.

It literally feels like I am being stabbed up there, along with it feeling like I am getting contractions up three.

This month is just something else. I am on a few different pain killers due to a back injury and they are causing constipation, so these pains are just literally unbearable. I honestly thought I was going to pass out on the toilet . I eventually managed to go. Was honestly worse than giving birth to be honest, and now the pain has thankfully passed

I have been taking dulcolax to help with the constipation, but they also give me awful tummy aches.

I've done a big of googling of course and seen a few different things.

Has anyone else experienced this awful pain when needed a poo on period ?

I'm to scared to even eat now in fear of being In this same state again while on my period

Sounds like classic endometriosis. Mine kicked in shortly after my second baby. It’s a long road to diagnosis but get the ball rolling and see your GP. A hefty dose of ibruprofen will make life more comfortable as it eases the pain and does something to the hormones causing the mischief in the first place ( prostaglandins ??)

Javelin arse. Used to get it all the time, not so much now. This video explains it a bit: https://youtube.com/shorts/wuXurz5wzmQ?feature=share

Yep classic endometriosis symptom. We call it javelin arse.

@Itaintover thank you for your reply! I've been relying heavily in the cocodamol for the back pain, but I think I'll switch to ibuprofen for now!

I shall give the doctors a ring in the morning.

I'm obviously stupid and didn't realise endometriosis could happen after having babies 🤦‍♀️I always thought it was something that happened earlier on to be honest

@ChrisPPancake thank you! Glad I am not the only one. It really is horrendous

@ChrisPPancake is there anything you did to help ease it at all? Other than pain killers

I've had this since my second. Not bowel movement related, just this random arse cramp. Each time it lasts exactly 20 minutes, starting off quite mildly in back passage, get excruciating and then moves to the front. Agree its the worst pain I've ever experienced. If I take ibroporfen quickly it eases it. I had cold sweats and fainting with it for the first few years, but honestly now I think I've got used to it and find that standing up and marching on the spot eases it. Kind if like periods when they first start, the cramps feel as though you are dying, but you just get used to the pain. I mentioned it at my smears, but the nurse said it's quite common, just one of those things, and that it's probably related to thing moving or a slight prolapse.

Hi OP I agree classic endo symptoms. I was diagnosed in 2021 age 43. I had had symptoms nearly 8 years and after changing doctors before I finally got a laposcropy.
Bum daggers and period poo is classic and awful with endo. Ask for a referral to your nearest endo clinic or have a look online where you can go, I went a bit out of my area I just asked my GP to refer. If your near Yorkshire Wakefield are good at pinderfields. I find femminax, hot water bottle, helps

Endometriosis is the likely culprit here. It’s known on here as javelin arse and I winced in recognition of your symptoms., You need to see a gynaecologist preferably at a BGSE centre. Any symptom that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked out to see if endo is the cause
