Combination pill but periods are just as heavy

Started a new combination pill as periods are too heavy, everything I read shows that the pill should lighten my periods as its a fake bleed. Unfortunately there is no change at all, they are just as heavy (even while taking the tranxamic acid and nuproxen from the dr)
Do different pills make a difference or do I need to face the fact that they will always be heavy while I have a break.

Currently I'm only taking them monthly and the paln is to tricycle them to have less. I only have a 4 day break instead of 7 , but although I've taken 3 pills of the next pack already its still really heavy. I thought having a 4 day break and not 7 would dry it up quicker.
Any tips or anyone else been through this?

Has the GP not referred you to a gynae?. This sort of issue is outside a GPS general remit.

If funds permit I would now consider going private for an initial consultation with a gynae at your local private hospital.

Try taking them without a break. You don't need to have a break at all.

The dr hasn't recommended a gynae maybe I can suggest it to him.

The plan is to take it back to back, I'll try 2 months next time and then try 3 the month after but it's just disheartening that I was expecting a lighter she shorter period but its still going on now and hasn't lightened up.

The Internet says a lighter period is the norm but I wondered if many people still had heavy periods while taking the pill.

I'd take them back to back for 3 packs, but don't expect the bleeding to reduce significantly immediately. It may take a few months. However given you're already on a few other meds for it, I'd also be ask for a gynae referral as they're not addressing the underlying cause.
