I think I have a prolapse, I have noticed a bulge at the opening to my vagina. I get a lot of pain when I walk it feels like something is rubbing against the entrance to my vagina, has anyone else had this symptom with a prolapse? I am going to try and get a GP appointment but as I assume it won't be considered urgent I am have a wait to be seen and I am worried.

Hey, this sounds very similar to my situation - after having my baby I noticed exactly what you describe down below. Like you I noticed when I go on long walk (with double stroller especially) I have not so much pain like you describe but more of an ache a heavy feeling down below almost like I did when I was pregnant! Best way to describe :/

Anyway when I spoke about it to health professional like you one person told me it wasn't a prolapse and then I went again to someone else who told me I did have a prolapse and to wait until baby was 1years old and hopefully by then it should correct itself because apparently it's quite normal and if it's minor it should mend when your body heals. How old is your little one?

My advise would be go get another review. If you haven't had something bulging previously but now notice you have accompanied with pain then it warrants a 2nd review x

I've got one too similar to this, when I was pregnant with second DC they checked and said no prolapse . After that it was still there 6 months after second birth, so I mentioned it at my smear test. She just said there may possibly be a slight prolapse there and recommended I keep on with pelvic floor exercises in case.
DC is 2.5 now and I still feel it there when I'm on the toilet, I think the reason they don't see it when they check is maybe it only shows when I'm in an upright position. I don't know. I'm reluctant to get it checked again as they'll probably say again there's no prolapse, but I know there is something bulging that wasn't there before I had my DC

Yes I think the same it is noticeable when sitting or standing but not when lying on my back. Which is how they examined me. I did explain this to the GP but she said it was nothing to worry about and not a prolapse. I was thinking about going to see the pelvic floor physio anyway to see what they think.

Ooo btw to let you know it was only when I had an internal examination that confirmed my prolapse and the exact type (posterior prolapse) - like someone already said they told me pelvic floor should help and to wait for a year before they would even consider looking at me. X

I was diagnosed with a mild anterior prolapse yesterday and have been given some oestrogen cream and a referral to the Women’s physio. I'm perimenopausal and my bladder knows it 😩

amybobs · 10/04/2024 23:16

GP diagnosed a posterior wall prolaspe which is moderate. Ive been referred to urogynocology . Unsure what they will do. Gp said either physio, pessary or surgery. Been stuggling to empty bowels properly. Feel like i dont know whats normal anymore as was told previously there was no prolapse. Anyone else in the same boat?

Panthereyes · 11/04/2024 10:47

I have done physio which didn't help me. I am on the waiting list for gynae appointment. I paid privately to see a gynae who fitted a pessary which fell out within 24hours. She then fitted a bigger pessary but it was really uncomfortable with pelvic cramps and pressure on my bladder so I removed it. Can't afford to do another private appointment so waiting for NHS as gynae said there are other types of pessary I can try but I know the waiting list is about a year at least.
