Just that really. I've had a raised CA125 I'm 22 I have a pelvic and ultrasound coming up. My symptoms are irregular periods and so much pain and nausea with periods and pain that goes down my legs. I worry about my fertility ... I've heard some horror stories ...

First of all: do not worry. At 22 if it is endometriosis, you will probably be prescribed the pill after a blood test. Your periods will become regular and much less painful. The pill will be dosed on the basis of your blood test and will be custom made for your problem. You will feel better. I was much older than you when diagnosed and I have a child. Do not start worrying: it is pointless.

I feel for you, had similar problems at that age too.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Irregular periods are often caused by hormonal imbalances, in this respect a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common culprit. Has anyone medical
looked into this?. A person can have both polycystic ovaries and endometriosis (I was eventually diagnosed with both).

The pill could help re lessening of pain and levels of bleeding but what it also does are mask the symptoms of the underlying problems.

A pelvic or internal ultrasound will not detect endometriosis if it is present because the deposits are so very small. It’s usually diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.

Ideally you should be under the care of a gynaecologist. This is not a problem for a GP as it is well outside their remit.

any other questions do not be afraid to ask.

With DD despite repeated trips to our GP for 3 years she was offered very little help. Eventually we paid for her to see a Private Gynae who was amazing and wrote a detailed treatment plan for our GP. She also got involved when The GP tried to ignore her.

Educate yourself re endometriosis, doing so will help if you are yourself asked to make a treatment decision.

Do also keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this, it can give clues to the gynaecologist.

I just had a hysterectomy and the lab results on my uterus showed that.
It explained a lot... 30 years of pain!

I had a hysteroscopy that confirmed it
