Mooncup.. should I/shouldn't I?

I'm looking for opinions on the mooncup or similar please? I am considering trying.. I have seen a mix of reviews on them, have also seen the skin type things on Amazon which also have good reviews.
I'm in 30's, have had a baby, have heavy periods, have gone through 4 extra long pads today. Are these things worth it?

I bloody love mine.
It cost me £7 from superdrug and is so convenient.
I definitely cramp less with this over tampons.

Try it! Be prepared to get a couple of different ones before you find the right fit. I love mine now.

Passmethecrisps · 03/06/2023 23:26

I rotate two. One is a very cheap job made from non-medical grade silicon. One is a more pricey one. Once I used my first one I swore I would never go back to pads.

some caveats - I have to turn mine inside out and cut the tail off. The shape inside out sides inside me better. It took a bit of awkward placing to work that out.

I have very middle of the road periods but since I started using the cup I have almost no cramps and empty maybe once, max twice a day

Couldn't get along with the cups (DH had to dig it out after it suctioned up on my cervix 😱). Everyone I know that tried them lost them first time 😂. Those that persevered grew to love them, some like me much too traumatised!

I much prefer discs as they don't suction. My favourite is my hello disc because it has a removal tab which makes removal super easy, never lost it. Plus (though never tried) you can have sex with discs in place as they sit higher.

What are the skin type things?

I have a shorty cup (can't remember the brand) as I have a low cervix. It doesn't hold as much as normal cups but I just double up with period pants for the couple of heavier days.

I’ve used one for 20 years with no problems. The same one. Still perfectly functional. Definitely worth the money. I also have a few washable pads which I use on heavy days in case of leaks.
