Anyone had varicose veins treated on their health insurance?

I’m pregnant and my varicose veins have gradually got worse and worse, to the point that I NEED them treated after baby is born. I can’t continue on like this, they’ve spread pretty much down my full legs now and just look awful 😔 There’s big lumps in a lot of them where they’re now bulging right out my skin. I’ve had it confirmed at the doctors last year that it was varicose veins but she said the nhs don’t treat them anymore for cosmetic reasons. I’ve priced it to go privately and it could be around £4000 🙄 I was thinking of taking out health insurance if this would mean they’d pay for it as the clinic I’ve looked into mentions health insurance covering the cost. Has anyone had them pay it? Would they not pay mine as it’s already on my medical record at the doctors as a pre-existing condition?

Hello, if you have a record of any appointment related to the condition you won’t have the claim granted, insurers can see your medical history, it would be worth getting health insurance if anything else arises though

Beneden Heaalth cover treats lots of pre existing conditions after 6 months of membership.

Thanks for your replies

@GwendolenAbott its annoying, if I’d thought about it before hand I wouldn’t have ever mentioned it to my doctor until I was insured 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was just basing it on pet insurance and thinking that’s usually how it works with that if it’s ever been recorded before!

@RedDoughnut that’s good to know thanks, will have a look into that!
