Verrucas - advice needed

I've had three verrucas for about 8 years now. I paid £350 for an expensive 'Swift' treatment (microwave energy) and it didn't work, apparently it was the most likely treatment to work...

I am now trying at home apple cider vinegar and tape and am on my third night. Would love to hear about any one else's experience of this - what changes did you notice, did it sting (mine is really stinging on night 3 but hoping that means it's working), did the verruca look different, how long did it take to work, etc.

If my verrucas were dormant, will it still work?

I'm really ready to be done with them now...

Thanks!

Gaffer tape!!! And Manuka honey if you can afford it.. but gaffer tape may be enough on its own… just replace daily… it starts the verruca of oxygen and it dies - I had a one that I struggled to get rid of for years - honestly this works! Google it! Good luck

HaggisFace · 24/05/2023 21:59

Possibly not advisable but I poked around mine with a sterile needle to encourage my body to fight it and it was away with about 6 weeks of doing that. I'd had mine for almost 3 years

FayK · 24/05/2023 22:29

I tried everything for my daughter and what eventually seemed to work was a homeopathic treatment called Thuja. She took a daily tablet and we put Thuja gel on the actual verruca. Took a while but eventually went. Good Luck.

Whereisthesun99 · 24/05/2023 22:30

We used Apple cider vinegar on my sons took about 6-8 weeks , he would sit with his foot in the vinegar for around 30 mins. Then dry and use a cotton pad socked in the vinegar taped to his foot over night. Once a week my husband would use a blade to remove the head/ skin over it. We also did not dilute the vinegar like it advises.

Lucydoddledoo · 24/05/2023 22:36

I'm guessing it's a similar principle but I used banana skins on mine. Cut small squares and the inside of the skin against my foot. Strong tape. I had about 15 on my feet and they all went

Stabee · 24/05/2023 22:43

Salactol and a pumice stone shifted dd's when all else failed.

FlamingoYellow · 24/05/2023 22:45

I found the cheap verruca plasters off amazon the only thing that worked on mine. Took less than a week to work and I'd had the verruca for over 5 years. Let me know if you're interested in trying it out and I'll give you the full detailed explanation! Getting rid of that thing was up there with my wedding day and births of my kids in the list of top 5 happiest moments of my life 😂.

I tried blimmin everything OP and in the end it was Gorilla Tape that worked but I had to do it religiously ...

Put tape on after shower on a Sunday night

Keep it on all week

Remove on Saturday, give a good clean and go without for 24 hours

Put back on come Sunday

Repeat process until gone

This finally shifted mine but took about 3 months. This was after having 5 on one foot for about 18 months

Frightenedbunny · 24/05/2023 22:50

duc tape!! Recommended to me by a chiropodist friend. Thought they were joking but it really worked!

Sunflower07 · 24/05/2023 22:52

I had several for YEARS and eventually they came off after a week away after spending lots of time in the sea. Could have been a coincidence but I had 5 and they all came off!

KnittedCardi · 24/05/2023 23:08

Nail varnish for me. I had a verucca, and over several years, with all sorts of treatment, inc. gel, and freezing, and poking around and cutting out, they just kept multiplying until I had a cluster. I kid you not, two weeks of religious painting with nail varnish, and one day they just vanished. No peeling, or holes, just gone. Amazing.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 24/05/2023 23:11

I had loads for well over 15 years 🥺 I tried everything... vinegar, tape, banana peel, thunja etc etc but nothing would work on the beastly things. Then I ordered something called Salactol for a few quid from an online pharmacy. Painted it on as directed and before long they had disappeared which was incredible as one of the clusters was like a crater!

PhoenixIsFlying · 24/05/2023 23:19

Apple cider vinegar soaked in cotton wool and taped to my daughter's foot was the only thing that got rid of them. About a week I think.

AvocadoSurprise · 24/05/2023 23:38

I second Salactol, although I use an emery board rather than pumice stone. Has gotten rid of several verrucae on me & children. Have tried lots of things but it's the only thing that has ever worked. Soak the verucca first then use the empty board, then apply a thin layer being careful to avoid surrounding skin. Repeat daily. Has worked every time without fail.

AvocadoSurprise · 24/05/2023 23:38

Salactol can be bought from a pharmacy.

Starlitexpress · 24/05/2023 23:42

Had a huge one for about 10 years, at one point it spawned about 20 babies😭, spent a fortune on chiropodist fees, potions, having it frozen....

In the end, after a few drinks I got a pair of nail scissors and the result was deeply satisfying and was the last I saw of the bastard (Though I don't think I would recommend it).

HabitatRat · 25/05/2023 00:03

I tried everything out there that was suggested. The one thing that worked in the end was Cuplex gel. Had to let the skin get soft and then I'd have to pick at it now and then to get rid of the root. (or whatever it is), so it didn't come back. It worked really really well!

Thehonestybox · 25/05/2023 00:07

Got rid of my 4 year ones last month. tbh I think the thing that really worked was carefully and gradually taking bits off with a scalpel and tweezers. It hurt like MAD, and bled. But they are finally gone!

Mamatotwoboys · 25/05/2023 20:47

Thanks everyone. I’m now feeling tempted to try salactol, but maybe I should stick to vinegar and tape?

so I’ve done three days of white wine vinegar (I didn’t have apple cider, does that matter?!) and tape at night with a sock over it too. Today it has been really sore. I just gently filed it back with a nail file and now I can see the ‘blood vessels’, though they are really deep unlike the pictures I find online where the black dots are superficial.

any ideas? Does this mean mine are really deep rooted? Should I carry on with the treatment?

Sorry you’re having to deal with this 🤦🏼‍♀️ they’re the worst! I had them for years, three on one foot and one on the other and they just wouldn’t go. It is meant to be a sign that your immune system isn’t working right if they won’t budge or you could be stressed or another cause which could be suppressing it?

I tried the lot.. banana skin gaffer taped to my feet, the apple cider vinegar on cotton wool, pretty much anything I read about I tried. I had them frozen at the doctors but they didn’t go. Eventually I was so fed up that I decided to go to a clinic for advanced electrolysis as I’d had it before to remove a tiny freckle/mole on my face. I was at the desperate stage and would have tried anything, my next step was chopping off both my feet 🙄 I went for the treatment and didn’t think it had worked but it all scabbed over. About a month later it fell off and it was completely gone, all 4 of them! I’ve just looked up the treatment and it does say it takes a month. I would highly recommend trying it instead of putting yourself through any more home remedies that do nothing but stink out your bedroom 🙈

Stabee · 26/05/2023 20:30

No harm in keep trying the vinegar. Use something to take the dry layers off, eg pumice stone. Can always try salactol if it doesn't work. We bought it online. It's strong stuff so needs to be stored out of DC's reach.

Mamatotwoboys · 27/05/2023 06:52

Update - yesterday was so sore and I struggled with walking. Feel like giving up on the treatment. Last night I switched from white wine vinegar to apple cider vinegar (I heard the mother in ACV is important?). When I wake it looks quite swollen and moist, like the skin around it has been in water. This is it about 30 mins after taking the tape and ACV off. And I’m on day 4 now.

I read that as long as the black bits are there it’s still active, so I’m thinking I’m not getting anywhere with this!

I had some for about 8 years and tried everything. Only thing that worked was having them frozen off professionally. I wish I had just done that earlier!

realityhack · 27/05/2023 07:21

I had one for about 8 years too. Nothing worked- tried taping it, thuja, digging it out with a scalpel, chemist solutions, vinegar etc, always bloody came back. Out of desperation I went to podiatrist and got it frozen off. Took three treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart but worked beautifully and it has never come back.

crackersforcheese · 27/05/2023 07:27

I used the scholl freezing treatment and did it for a while, it worked eventually x
