Adenomyosis advice

So been diagnosed with
Adenomyosis

I really really don't want to take the pill or have a coil. Hormone contraception does not agree with me at all. I also don't fancy a hysterectomy.

Anyone know of any other options. I just want to have done my research before I speak to the specialist.

I had tranexamic acid prescribed and it was great. But like anything else, it doesn't suit everyone. I don't think there are any other alternatives that have proven efficacy.

That's something to consider at least. I just want options. I can't bear the idea of hormonal contraception again. It really isn't for me at all.

Have you tried mefanamic acid for the pain and tranemexic acid for the bleeding?
I'm currently waiting on diagnosis etc but been told I may have endometriosis or what you have as I'm bleeding through maternity pads and the pain is as bad as labour.
Tranemexic acid and mefanamic acid have helped improve my quality of life when on my periods whilst trying to care for 2 young children.
Hormones like the pill and coil don't work for me at all either.
I'm waiting to speak to a gynaecologist but the wait time when I got referred in Feb was 60 weeks.

I had mirena coil. Life changing. Although it’s hormonal the doses are much much lower as it acts locally. I still ovulate and haven’t had any side effects as I did with the pill.

I've been offered this but heard awful stories of not being able to remove it and people bleeding for months on them I've said no to it.
I'm limited anyways due to BP issues and blood clot issues.

I had the mirena coil and also agree - totally life changing. I have never got in with any of the pills and they made me feel awful. Mirena coil was totally different and I haven’t had any side effects.

My consultant urged me to try it whilst I had surgery and said it was easy to remove (not easy to put in). So I gave it a chance and I’m so pleased I did.

I tried the coil a few years ago. I bled constantly

I'm afraid without hormones it'll be a management of pain and heavy bleeding if that's what you get. I initially didn't do hormones as I was TTC and failing miserably so flooded and basically was in pain 24/7. It was miserable so prepare for your life to be impacted.

But after giving birth did go onto the mini pill and yes I was post baby exhausted but it was a game changer. He's 7 now and haven't bled or had much pain at all. Good luck it's not a pleasant condition to have.

I've been seeing a gynaecologist who basically said the options are mirena, hysterectomy, hormonal treatment or a pill to put you into temporary menopause, but that's an extreme solution. I'm now perimenopausal so have opted for double the normal dose of progesterone as part of my hrt regimen, and my bleeding is less than half what it was. Progesterone in some form is the key, I think.

Coil was dreadful, spectacularly painful to put in and did nothing apart from cause me pain. Tried the pill briefly, but remembered why I'd stopped using it in the first place. Cocktail of norethisterone and mefanamic and tranexamic made me constantly nauseous.
Had a hysterectomy - best thing I ever did, wish I'd done it years ago.

I have adenomyosis, I was on Tranemexic acid and mefanamic acid which really helped but my consultant urged me to have the coil put in as the step before hysterectomy. I had it put in on the 20th April whilst I was having a hysteroscopy, I was rushed to a&e this week and put on the gynea ward to have it removed as I was rejecting it (felt like full blown labour and had to have morphine and gas and air the pain was so bad) they said that this happens to a minority of women! Didn’t tell me when this when they encouraged me to have it put in! I will be going back on the acids as they really helped and will be requesting a hysterectomy!
