What is this on my breast

Woken up with this on my breast. It wasn't there yesterday. I'm waiting for the GP to open to call them. It's not sore or itchy or red, I wouldn't even know it was there if I didn't look.
But it's obviously really freaking me out.

Are there any medical professionals who have any idea if it looks like cancer ?

It's redness with a fluid filled blister in the middle.

I'm otherwise fit and well.

Can't think of anything that irritated it .

I think that’s a cyst. They are pretty harmless and will go away without treatment. Speak to your GP for peace of mind/ to confirm.

Thank you. I hope you are right! Got the GP at 4:30.

What was the outcome OP?

warmmfeet · 01/05/2023 22:03

@Mumma2Ro I saw a nurse practitioner who reassured me and said it doesn't look sinister and should go away on its own in a few days. However it hasn't yet! I guess I will get back in touch in a day or so if it's still there.
She wondered if it was an insect bite. I don't think it is. It's very odd!

My first thought was an insect bite .

warmmfeet · 04/05/2023 20:07

Feeling very nervous because I sent a photo of how it looks today and they have asked me to go back in tmw

@warmmfeet

Are you anywhere near an area that has Blandford Flies (Oxfordshire; South Northamptonshire; Dorset etc). It really reminds me of one of those bites...they're absolute arseholes who leave massive blisters...

warmmfeet · 04/05/2023 20:34

Oh I am actually in Dorset. 30 mins from Blandford in fact. Let's hope that's all it is, thank you for sharing that.! Not heard of them.

I'd say insect bite. Did you take antihistamines and put on antihistamine cream?

Fladdermus · 04/05/2023 20:35

Whatever it is, it looks very sore.

ArcticSkewer · 04/05/2023 20:37

Good luck at GP tomorrow, it's good they are keeping an eye in case it gets infected at a deeper level, looks painful!

warmmfeet · 04/05/2023 21:24

@ArcticSkewer no I didn't. The nurse didn't advise that, she just said to let it resolve naturally and get back in touch if it doesn't get better/ looks worse

I'd say insect bite too. Cancer doesn't go from nothing to an angry blister overnight.

Hotfootgoose · 04/05/2023 21:28

A bite that has gone a bit septic?

ArcticSkewer · 04/05/2023 21:33

warmmfeet · 04/05/2023 21:24

Maybe on the first day an antihistamine tablet might have helped - it looks like a reaction to a bite. Plus cold compresses to cool it down.

I didn't realise at first that you were posting a few days on, I don't think antihistamines would work now. Perhaps it's got a bit infected so they will give an antibiotic/antibiotic cream.

apapuchi · 04/05/2023 21:41

I had something similar and it was an angry cyst that did just resolve without antibiotics or anything. However, it was going down in the couple of days after seeing the GP so I didn't need to go back. If you're still not happy and not improving then definitely see a HCP again and it's good they're keeping an eye on you. Hopefully all will be well very soon!

newjobnewstartihope · 04/05/2023 21:44

I had a bite just like that on my thigh a while back

Honestly, Google 'Blandford Fly bite' pictures. The blister is a classic. They're nasty, nasty fuckers!!!

warmmfeet · 05/05/2023 11:39

Thanks everyone for the supportive / helpful comments. Today she gave me antibiotics and said there are no red flags for cancer, possibly a bite or something has got into my bra and rubbing on my breast to cause a friction burn. She will review it again on Friday.
