Period on holiday

Has anyone ever asked a doctor if they can give teenager (nearly 15) anything to delay her period for a holiday? As my daughter does not wear tampons this is going to make her miserable missing out on swimming and being in the pool and sea. This is her first foreign holiday for 6 years so really looking forward to it, but don't want it spoiling with not being able to swim. Thanks

Norethisterone is usually prescribed for that. Note sure if they would for U18s though

Yes, GP prescribed it for my 11yo, although she didn't use it in the end.

Norethisterone or period swimwear would be options

Or would she consider trying tampons just while she's away?

She has tried before but found it impossible :(

My GP refused to prescribe Norethisterone for my DD. We ended up buying modibody period bikini bottoms and they worked well. Plus I made sure she had a dark towel and shorts to slip on when she got out of the water.

My DD was prescribed Norethisterone with no problems at all for her school Year 6 residential trip.
The doctor only asked if she'd been having periods for over 12 months (she had, bless her) and said he was happy to prescribe with an established cycle.
They need to be started three days before she is due, then for the duration of the holiday.

Looking into this too. Just for the holiday. Do things go back to normal after that month? Terrified it's a terrible thing to do.

Not my DD but I always used to get something prescribed for holidays as a teen. I can't remember what it was called but I would have been under 15 because after that I went on the pill and just took that back to back if I was due a break whilst on holiday.

Mine was prescribed northisterone at 14. Later period was a bit heavier and more painful but she felt it was worth it
