Post memopausal bleeding

Discovered I'm bleeding yesterday... enough to stain red on pant liners/toilet paper. GP confirmed today and has referred me to a post-menopausal bleeding clinic. I've been on the same HRT for nearly 2 years, no issues with it to date.
Can anyone share their experiences / outcomes if they had similar bleeding please?

I haven’t quite reached this stage and I dont want to worry you but there was a big drive a few years ago that menopausal women shouldn’t ignore any unexpected bleeding as it’s not normal. They will want to give you a full mot and check over. Not 100% sure what your clinic would do but i would expect bloods / potential urine test / ultrasound etc

I had post menopausal bleeding (I hadn't had a period for 18 months)
I was referred under a two week wait to gynaecologist for an internal scan, which necessitated an internal examination and biopsy in the same appointment (a one stop shop sort of clinic)

I had a total hysterectomy and the biopsy revealed pre cancerous changes. No other treatment was required. From finding the light bleed to hysterectomy date was two months exactly.

Well done on getting your GP involved straight away, these things should not be ignored.

Best wishes @Advocado

@Spottypillow thank you. Bracing myself for the MOT you suggest.

@LilyAndTheKing thank you for sharing this. Can I ask what the reason for the hysterectomy was? Was this because of having the bleeding? So, if I read your post correctly they didn't know it was pre-cancerous until you had already had the hysterectomy? Apologies if I'm misunderstanding. However the speed that you were seen and the positive action os great to hear. I hope you're totally well and recovered from the op now.

Yes I had to have a polyps removed after light bleeding

Best to get it checked out

This just happened to me. Had an ultrasound within 3 days. Lining and ovaries all fine - no further action. Very light bleeding stopped after 4 days. Seems like a random 'period' hormone surge possibly triggered by some hormone superfood powder I started taking a month ago. Best of luck. Try not to worry. You did the right thing getting seen straight away. All very possible causes very treatable.

Been through the procedure three times now because of repeated PMB - a grand total of four scans , two hysteroscopies and two biopsies.

Consultant says cheerfully at the end of the last one - if you bleed again within a year that's OK, after that it's back here once more! Thinks it may be down to vaginal atrophy.

At least I seem to be one of the lucky ones that finds the hysto nearly painless. Just as well!

@Advocado sorry for the delay.
When I had the internal scan, followed by the hysteroscopy on the same day (I think I said this was internal exam and biopsies) the gynaecologist didn't like what he saw. Thickening of the uterine wall, it was several years ago (6?). and my memory of the event is hazy. The biopsy revealed pre cancerous changes and then I was recommended a total hysterectomy (ovaries, fallopian tubes and cervix all removed).
I'm completely recovered and no further problems.

Blooming memory is playing up, I also had a contrast MRI scan on my abdominal/ uterine region prior to surgery.

Really appreciate these responses thank you everyone. And for sharing more of your stories and experiences- this is so helpful.
Noting the comments about hysteroscopy and what to expect too.
The bleeding has stopped at the moment, just going to patiently await my clinic appointment and que sera sera.
