Please can anyone help read my blood results? Possible thyroid issue?

I had bloods done at the doctors recently after an ongoing twitch in my eye, I've been under a huge amount of stress for a few months, however the doctor said they will call me in a week as b12 is high but nothing else said. Very worried so I paid for a private test, it shows high t3 and b12, I stopped taking multivitamins 2 days before but they contain biotin, could this effect results? Sorry for long post and thanks in advance if anyone can help :)

Hi. I would query the thyroid function tests. Your T3 is elevated and your TSH is on the verge of indicating slide towards hyperthyroidism. I battled with my thyroid for many years and it can cause all manner of symptoms in the body. Just mention it when they ring. I am not a GP (disclaimer!) your T4 is normal though and that's what many go on. Even if you repeat them in say three months might be worth requesting to check. Might just be a blip caused by stress.

Thank you :)
I spoke to the GP this week and they are going to repeat the test and see and hopefully my b12 goes down too

I think biotin does affect certain blood test results. I would check this and perhaps see if some need to be repeated after a longer time off biotin...maybe a month or so?

If the multivitamin contains B12, that will be why the result is high, as B12 blood tests aren't accurate unless free from supplements for at least 3 months. A high result when you're taking supplements is nothing to worry about, but there's no way of knowing how much of it you are absorbing so unfortunately B12 deficiency can't be ruled out

Thank you, yes I'm really hoping it's the biotin effecting it, the GP has recommended a re rest in 6 weeks to see if its changed

Thank you that's very reassuring to hear , I keep trying to tell myself that too, that it must be the supplements, Google as ever had brought up the scary stuff and it caused me massive anxiety but yes I agree the logical cause must be the supplements which I've now stopped and fingers crossed my next test is better! Thank you :) x
