Fuc*ed off now, have had a yeast infection for months, it's completely ruined my s3x life can't have it due to the severe burning and pain and obvs don't want to pass it to partner, can't take a pill due to pregnancy and can't take most creams due to pregnancy, any creams I can take only relieve the itching and burning but don't actually get rid of the infection, really annoyed now, any tips, please x

You can use creams and pessaries. You often need a course of Pessaries to clear it up during pregnancy. Have you spoken to the gp?

Your GP or probably midwife will prescribe something safe for pregnancy.

Yep, have to spoke GP, he's prescribed me a cream that states to apply to the outside of the vagina which I can't understand how this would help? But applied anyways and after finishing the course - there was no difference so contacted gp again and he prescribed the exact same cream, useless :(

As above, you can use vaginal creams and pessaries in pregnancy

Well seeing its a male GP!
Maybe print off what I posted and show the next gp

You need pessaries, I had to get the doctor to prescribe them as the pharmacy wouldn't give them to me OTC.

Last time I had vaginal thrush (years ago), I created a mixture of coconut oil and lavender oil, then coated a tampon with it and inserted it into my vagina.

Relief was instant. Repeated a couple of times. I think thrush was gone in about 2 days.

Not sure about using this when pregnant but that should be easy to research on the net.

Googling this brought up the following, which is not quite what I did, but very similar.

I'm guessing you are aware that thrush is a yeast infection and the other way to resolve it to starve the yeast of nutrients - meaning to cut ALL sugars, including excessive carbs, alcohol and whatever other sugars there are - out of your diet for as long as it takes to kill it, and then add another couple of days / week to make sure its gone ........

Either of these methods will do it X

This was me for the biggest part of my last pregnancy. I was miserable and tearing my hair out. I would sleep with a cold, wet flannel wedged up me just for some relief. A wise woman (on here I think) suggested the probiotic yoghurt drink things...drink one and rub one around down there. I did this twice, maybe 3 times over a few days and just like magic, it went away! I actually sent a private message to the poster at the time thanking them from the bottom of my heart, because I was so relieved that something had worked.

bananafishbones1 · 11/04/2023 23:53

Speak to your midwife, mine prescribed treatment (combination). You and your partner need to be treated. It's awful the only time I've had thrush was when pregnant, you have my sympathies.

You can't buy it over the counter in a pharmacy if you are pregnant as they aren't licensed to sell it to you.

I have 1% clotrimazole cream that the dr prescribed me a while ago, was quite confused as the packaging only states it's for athletes foot but dr said it's the exact same thing, but there's literally nothing on it that states how to apply down there, do I apply inside? Do I apply outside? How much do I apply? There's no applicator with it it's literally a cream, has anyone used this before and know what to do?

The cream is usually for external use. Your GP sounds useless. You need pessaries and maybe the 2% cream.

You can buy pessaries off the shelf in some supermarkets which you could try but 1 may not be enough. Or buy online.

From the link I posted

First line

Clotrimazole pessary 500 mg intravaginally at night for up to 7 consecutive nights first-line (if aged 16 years and older).
Other optionsIf this treatment is not tolerated or is contraindicated, see the section on alternative treatment regimens.

If there are vulval symptoms, consider a topical imidazole in addition to an intravaginal antifungal such as clotrimazole 1% or 2% cream applied 2–3 times a day.

Advise follow-up if symptoms have not resolved within 7–14 days for acute infection.
