Anyone else feel like they could just eat and eat and eat?

Or just me?!

I eat well and keep in good shape but my god its effort.

I see how others genuinely just get full and then have no desire to eat more.

I stop eating because I think I should. Even when I feel full, I could still keep going.

Keen to know if you are the same?

Or if you are someone that just gets full and then has no desire to eat more?

No I can totally eat all the time

tulipsandteacups · 11/04/2023 20:40

@wizzywig really?! Me too. do you find it a bit of a battle? How do you manage it daily?

Yes I can eat and eat and eat, but I don’t feel hungry all the time. I just have the ability to eat when I’m not hungry. It’s like the two things aren’t actually linked in my head. When I really concentrate on only eating when I’m actually hungry, I can eat substantially less and still be satisfied.

TulipTuesday · 11/04/2023 21:14

I don’t eat lots throughout the day but once I start eating I can eat and eat until my stomach is hugely bloated and uncomfortable. I don’t feel happy at night unless I’m stuffed from my evening meal followed by chocolate/biscuits/cake. It’s why I’m overweight.

Nameandgamechange123 · 11/04/2023 21:17

Yes. It's always been a struggle to stay in control. I'm in decent shape-really don't understand how as I do not stop eating and thinking about food all day. An example day:
Large Sausage and egg baguette, several lattes,a pastry mid morning, salmon and vegetable lunch, avocado on toast, biscuits, heavy dinner like pasta, more sweets etc in the evening. Does your day look like mine?

HermioneWeasley · 11/04/2023 21:17

This was me until I started on ozempic. I stopped eating because it was polite, rarely because I was full. I could always eat. I was terrified of being hungry.

QueefQueen80s · 11/04/2023 21:19

Yes my ideal existence is eating and snacking all day. I let myself do it once after my dad died and my weight settled on 20 stone, no bigger and no less.. That's how much food I'm happiest eating.
However I love being slim and healthy more so it's a constant battle. I let myself have a couple of binge days a month and the rest of the time exercise and eat well.

Do you find the Ozempic actually stops you wanting to overeat?

I have a serious problem with binge eating and have considered using this to lose weight, but I thought my success would be limited because it's my addiction to food that is the biggest issue.

BCBird · 11/04/2023 21:28

Yes that's me. Can eat non stop. Going through a very traumatic time at the moment a d food is my anaesthetic. Feel unwell. Had to buy bigger clothes. Just don't care at the.moment

DustyLee123 · 11/04/2023 21:29

Me, I can eat and eat. Rarely feel full.

StepAwayFromTheBiscuitJar · 11/04/2023 21:33

I could get hyooge very easily.

The solution for me is lifting heavy weights. It allows you to eat a lot more than you'd be able to doing just cardio. Professional male lifters are eating 10k+ calories and remaining low bodyfat as muscle requires a lot more calorific maintenance.

FusionChefGeoff · 11/04/2023 21:47

I have serious food issues and gave myself Easter 'off' various restricting diets. It was TERRIFYING how much I managed to eat over 3 days. I can eat and eat and almost never feel so full I have to stop.

Apart from my first few bites of lunch (don't have breakfast) I am never hungry really but I just keep eating regardless.

I do a LOT of exercise and afore mentioned restriction to balance it out so I'm a normal shape / size at the moment but at 43 and in full peri I don't know how long I'm going to get away with it.

HermioneWeasley · 11/04/2023 22:03

Oh yes @PlurplePeopleEater - not thinking about food all the time and get full very easily now

AnneBerlin · 11/04/2023 22:10

Yep, me too. I always thought I was just greedy, but I've come to realise that my eating is actually really disordered and it's like any other addiction. I'm addicted to food. Literally the second I open my eyes in the morning, I think about what I will be eating that day. It affects my mood hugely.

Somehow I'm not obese, just slightly overweight. I started Slimming World a couple of months ago and have lost a stone, would like to lose one more. The great thing is that you can actually eat loads, even if it's not loads of the stuff you really crave. I like that it allows me to feel like I have had a binge - eg I can eat a box of 5 Alpen Light bars all in one go, and it's within the rules... Ridiculous really but I just HAVE to have a good stuffing session every day.

Unfortunately I too gave myself Easter "off" and am horrified by how much I ate over the weekend. I wish I was normal and could keep a packet of biscuits in the cupboard and just have one or two with my coffee. I don't think I'll ever be able to do that.

FoolsOld · 11/04/2023 22:21

Yes. I've been on a very restrictive diet for a few months (Cambridge) but my Mum ended up in hospital recently and we were discussing end of life care so it all went to shit. Since then the wheels have come off and I feel like I'm going down a hill with no foot on the brakes. It's both exhilarating and terrifying because this is what my life would be if I gave in to eating what I wanted. I can't articulate the joy it brings me to have a day stretching out in front of me with no restrictions. But I can't continue like this. The reason for the Cambridge was to lose weight, be healthy and reduce my risk of cancer (mum is stage 4 terminal).

AnneBerlin · 11/04/2023 22:23

@FoolsOld I can't articulate the joy it brings me to have a day stretching out in front of me with no restrictions.

I know EXACTLY what you mean by that.
Sorry about your mum Flowers

like any other addiction

That was exactly my experience ... until I started eating low carb high fat (and medium protein).

Now I have one big or two small meals each day and have seriously no problem stopping. I just don't eat any of the sugary or starchy addictive treat kind of foods.

Meal, leafy green veg, creme, cheese.

Some dark chocolate or a glass of dry champagne at the weekend.

It's been truly a revelation, just how many non-hunger reasons I have for eating. Meal times, any thing social etc. Hardly ever hunger because I always eat (over ate? To avoid getting hungry. It's no big deal now

Anytime I find myself thinking 'just one couldn't hurt' I remind myself how it feels to be back in that blood sugar rollercoaster and it's enough to stop me dead in my tracks.

I agree . This way of eating was the only thing that has kept me from stuffing my face all day. My appetite has actually decreased.

StepAwayFromTheBiscuitJar · 12/04/2023 00:39

Intermittent fasting worked for me. Just a protein shake and banana for breakfast and a few coffees through the day. I'd lose my appetite after a few hours and rarely felt hungry at work once I'd gotten used to not eating much in the day.

Then I'd have a massive 2000 cal pigout in the evening, which felt even more extreme due to the fact I'd become full more quickly due to having not eaten all day (possibly my stomach shrinking). I always wanted more food when eating three meals a day, but it was easier to hold back when I knew I had an epic munch coming that evening.

PlurplePeopleEater · 12/04/2023 18:18

I eat normally through the day - mostly because I'm at work and around people and I hide my eating habits from others.

After work I eat a ridiculous amount, even when I am cooking dinner I am snacking while I wait for it to be ready - and I don't just mean a bite or two of the ingredients, I mean full on big snacks.

I managed to lose nearly three stone last year but have piled it all back on because my attitude to food never changed, I was just binging on lower calorie food instead of chocolate and chips.

eastereggs12 · 12/04/2023 22:12

Unfortunately I am always hungry too. I hate it, I can eat a large English breakfast and still be hungry.

mackthepony · 13/04/2023 02:31

The low carbing works, as mentioned above

That's the only thing that cuts appetite
