Hi there just curious as If to anyone had ever experienced similar, it's coming up to 3 years in summer since I've non stopped bleeding pretty much every day through and through, it's making me depressed and I'm so over it now, within that time I have been on multiple birth controls and I mean lots, I was on a few different pills and all had to stop for different reasons, I was on the depo for a year and now currently on the implant, you name it I've tried it, I've been double dosed on birth controls nothing seems to budge it, I want to doctors back in 2021 after suffering for a while and whilst she couldn't say for sure she said it was possibly from looking cervical ectropion but due to my bleeding she couldn't guarantee, but she would refer me to have the cells burnt of, within the next two years I have reached out to my doctor multiple times and the first time she gave me an emergency ultrasound that all came back clear she said after that it was probably birth control and to switch to the implant which I did, 8 months later I call again and he just said there's not much we can do and to try going on the pill as well, (didn't help) luckily a few weeks ago I recieved a letter after nearly two years regarding an appointment to gynaecology I can only assume it's from that appointment back in 2021 but hopefully it may get somewhere just wondered if anyone else experienced such prolonged bleeding and if the outcome was something to worry about.

Yes I have been through this. When I finally was seen by gynaecology I went on a merry-go-round of scans and hysteroscopies. An MRI finally showed deep-seated flat fibroids embedded in the walls of my womb. Very long story short I had a hysterectomy in my 50s.

Yes, a friend of mine had the same for years. Even through 3 pregnancies. When she was finally seen it was cervical erosion and having it cauterised fixed it!

Hi, I have been bleeding since March 2022 consistent. I was admitted 3 times into hospital and after having 6 blood transfusions and iron transfusion, I'm still in the same situation. I have had ultrasounds, cameras and even diagnostic surgery, all cleared nothing was found. I have been told they can not diagnose me. I have had countless high dosage of medications transamic acid, northistone and provera. All different kinds of contraceptives and even prostap (early menopause) nothing has worked. Yesterday I went back through A+E and was told I don't have much options left, I either go back on prostap or I have surgery to burn it away (this will effect me having another child). You would think in 2023 they would have come up with a better way to stop women from heavy PV bleeding!

It’s awful isn’t it, @Rue28? I had to limp on till I was 57 until I was offered an NHS hysterectomy.

HurdyGurdy19 · 27/07/2023 08:06

I had a "period" that lasted 18 months and went through various tests and exploratory ops, which didn't find any cause.

I eventually had a hysterectomy. Best thing I ever did.

Rue28 · 01/08/2023 11:44

@SpinCityBlues @HurdyGurdy19 hysterectomy is out the question due to my age. I'm only 28.

Since I wrote this i took myself back to A+E and seen a new gyne. He has put me on Ryeqo (Licenced to treat Utrine Fibroids) but given to me to help stop me bleeding. Which is similar to the prostap but it's a tablet once a day and has HRT built into it. 4 days on and I have finally stopped. With a read up on the fairly new drug, people who have used it said they came off but did eventually come back on. So fingers crossed I stay off my period for at least 6 months

Same, 3 years for me, just spotting, but still annoying and worrying…
had two smears
ultrasound
hysteroscopy and biopsy of womb

they just tell me there’s nothing wrong
had a coil fitted 6.5 months ago
still bleeding…

it’s got my mental health in a state too due to the constant worry xx

how old are you?

Rue28 · 02/08/2023 21:24

@Mrsworried1 how old are you?
I'm 28. It's very worrying.
How is the coil going? I had that fitted and I still bled very heavy, also the pain I had for the month I had it in was excruciating, I had to beg them to take it out or I would have ripped it out myself.

I've had abnormal bleeding since my daughter at age of 21. I would come on for months and off for months. I seen my Drs that much they had the cheek to tell me to stop phoning them for appointments because they said the bleeding is normal. Yes normal. We all know our body and I know when something is wrong. Even now i still think something is wrong down there. I have pain in my lower back, hips and groin area. I will not stop until I know why.

I feel you about your mental health. I might not totally understand how your feeling, but I do have a idea. Just stay positive

Oh and I'm now 5 days in to Ryeqo and even though they say HRT is built in, I'm experiencing hot flushes multiple times a day :( but I'm still positive this might help. Fingers crossed.

Mrsworried1 · 02/08/2023 21:33

Im 34. This all began about a year after I had a baby.
I am fed up with the coil, I’m currently on day 10
of bleeding, and I’m 6.5 months into having it so assumed it would have all stopped by now.
therefore it’s surely not hormonal like they just keep suggesting!
they said I’ve had all the relavent tests so I was also asked “what do you want us to do?” And they gave me a blood test, which they said was ok.
I can’t spend my younger years like this! I haven’t had sex with my husband in over a year because of all of the things going on!
xx
