Wet myself should I see Doctor?

Appreciate any advice as this is being a bit of a worry to me.
Couple of weeks ago I went with a group of friends to a hen do in Majorca.
Im not a heavy drinker but had some drinks before boarding the flight and another on the flight itself. About 45 mins before landing felt the need to go the bathroom, and went an joined the toilet due. However they switched on the seatbelt sign and sent us back to our seats. I sat there feeling pretty desperate but thinking they would soon switch it back off. But they didn't and then announced we would be starting our decent to land shortly. at this point I was desperate, although trying to look all calm. I could feel my heart rate pounding, and a sense of panic. I just closed my eyes and tried to calm and pretend to be asleep, and tense my things together. But couldn't get my heart to stop pounding and then felt this kind of fuzzy feeling throughout my body. Almost like a panic attack but not had one of those before so only assuming. Then felt the most awful feeling that I was dribbling. Not peeing as normal but dribbling out. As soon as we got of the plane I went to straight to the loo's and my knickers were soaking but luckily black jeans so not too visible.

Im not sure what to do, do I see my GP? Its not something that has ever happened before and not sure what to do?

If it's a one off that happened because you needed to go but couldn't access a toilet, I really wouldn't be concerned about it.

ladydimitrescu · 09/04/2023 01:32

No, you didn't get to the loo in time that's all. I wouldn't give it another thought.

snitzelvoncrumb · 09/04/2023 01:35

It happens. A friend had a stomach bug coming back from a holiday. She had to get up and use the toilet when the seatbelt sign was on. She was told to sit down but ignored them.

TracxeyS1111 · 09/04/2023 01:37

Sound like you had a panic attack. The dribbling was probably too much pressure and body's way of relieving pressure.

Im glad I didn't have a stomach bug - that could be less easy to hide... :(

Wouldn't worry at all. This happened to me when I was stuck in traffic once on the fourth road bridge and therefore couldn't get out to pee behind a bush.

I think you were in a unique situation - trapped, unable to visit the toilet, and already busting to go long before, and that would send your nervous system into a panic, and that would loosen the bladder sphincters involuntarily.

But I have learnt it is something one can do in a situation, a quick squeeze or two to reassure the bladder... As well as regularly to keep things in shape.

I don't think it is something you need to see the Dr about unless it starts being a regular thing. I had a similar thing a few years ago where I was in a long church Xmas service having had some drinks before going in. 10 mins into the service felt that sensation of a full blada. Half hour into the service I was bursting. Packed full of people and not able to get out. I did end up wetting myself a bit. Similar to what you describe just sense of fear and not full empty just bit coming out. Never drunk before going in again, but not had issue since.

kay I ask how old you are? Have you had any children?

I do think however this is just the fact you couldn’t access a toilet is the main issue here. I’m glad to hear you had black jeans on.

I wouldnt worry at all.

I was in hospital on the gynea ward. I needed assistance to get up to go to the toilet (and wasnt allowed or able to walk by myself)

Due to the effort / discomfort it took to actually move I waited until I properly needed to go, before pressing the button but then I accidentally knocked my buzzer on the floor while trying to press it.

My curtains were drawn and all the staff were very busy so I couldnt draw attention so over the next 45 mins or so I slowly trickled and ended up in wet bed. Once someone had realised I got up and finished on the toilet but my bladder was totally full, I couldnt hold it, so just had lots of small leaks.

My gyne Dr wasnt at all worried that I'd wet the bed, while wide awake, purely due to being unable to physically get to the toilet.
