With private health insurance, how long did you wait for a breast clinic appointment, after gp referral?

Just that really.
If you reply, who do you have insurance with.

Thanks

@DinkyDaisy the waiting is definitely the worst part but when I went to the NHS breast assessment clinic the staff (nurses, doctors, admins) couldn't have been kinder. Yes there was a bit of waiting between seeing the nurse, having a repeat mammogram and seeing a doctor, but I was very impressed with the standard of care and the information they gave me. Really hope you get a good outcome.

Thank you @Atreus . I am finding the waiting very difficult to handle.
Must try to occupy my mind and stop googling and prodding my poor, tender breast!

Could you get private over an Easter weekend anyway do you think? My NHS appointment is next Wednesday, all being well.
My DH checked stuff and his Bupa covers me but Easter weekend...

DinkyDaisy · 08/04/2023 10:10

Are NHS appointments likely to be cancelled due to junior doctors strike?
I so hope not...

I have bupa through work and for some things (think breast lump is one) you don't even need to go to a gp. You go direct to them.

@DinkyDaisy I hope my experience didn't alarm you. Whilst it was shambolic, the actual clinical care was OK.

Most breast lumps are not malignant but must be checked. As your apt is on Wednesday, I don't think you'll get an appointment privately before then. Why don't you attend it and see how it goes.

Best of luck with it all.

Goodness I had a call back from a mammogram within 2 weeks, v efficient and friendly both times a breast clinic all NHS , needed biopsy and will get result in 2 weeks would have been less but bank holidays didn't help but works for me anyway - looked up impact on any delays for breast cancel and provided with in a month or so doesn't have significant impact

Just to add in London it may be much quicker. But large parts of the country do not have much private care so it's not necessarily that much quicker.
What is quicker where I live is access to MRI tests as there are far more people able to operate an MRI than consultants.
