Please, please, please can I have suggestions of what the hell to do about my poor scalp - t gel and some foul smelling coal tar lotion have been prescribed so far, but I’m finding it so disgusting and upsetting. Any ideas?

I'm glad you've seen a specialist who has helped, it's great when you get some decent attention and answers. Dh has psoriasis since childhood, he's 55 and that bloody skin issue was driving us both demented, after seeing gp and hse (we're in Ireland) specialists I insisted he paid and seen a specialist in the Galway Clinic, after all those years his skin is clear. Such a difference when you see the right person.

Completely agree. He was clear that was he’s diagnosed would not have been in the experience of most gps and I can’t fault their care - sometimes they saw me twice a day and were ringing to check in between face to face appointments. At one point I thought I might actually die from this but seeing him today, I feel hopeful. X

Thank you for the support 😊

Can I ask what they diagnosed/advised? I too am having terrible scalp issues caused by menopause I think though not as bad as yours sounds. Still incredibly painful!

Poor you! Crap isn’t it. GPs all thought seborhic dermatitis but he’s diagnosed something more rare (need blood tests to confirm but lots of stuff fits it - apparently I’ve got pemphigus (which sounds quite friendly but isn’t). It’s quite unusual and usually opens you to opportunistic infections and sepsis (all the really shitty stuff). I’ve currently got staph aureus (again) in my head but also some other kind of superbug which has taken up residence - it’s deeply disgusting. So I’m on horse pills for that and it should clear. Keep pushing for swabs if you’ve got an infection and ask for a referral if it doesn’t improve - don’t let it get a grip and search for good products on here - vipers are totally helpful and on your side on this matter.

Sounds awful! I hope you get a positive outcome soon and no future incidences.

Well I'm sorry to hear you aren't evolving into a Janeway-style lizard creature, but glad to hear you are making progress and have a diagnosis.
