Mirena coil removal

DrCharlotteKing · 03/04/2023 17:02

I'm getting close to needing to remove my coil, and I suddenly have anxiety about getting it removed.

Had no real issues getting it in. Bit painful but no real issues.
Cannot imagine getting it removed, though!

Can anyone let me know how it was removing it?

It's been in for almost 5 years, so I know it needs to come out soon!

Mine was sooooooo easy - over in a second and didn't feel a thing. If you had no problems getting it in I'm sure you'll be fine with removal.

Mine was super quick and easy ( and I had huge problems with insertion. You will be fine.

Getting mine put in was so traumatic I developed genuine, diagnosed PTSD. Getting it taken out was completely painless. So if you handled it going in, you'll be absolutely fine!

Mine was over in a second too. Didn’t feel anything.

I was busy gabbing to the Dr.
"That's it" she said as she dropped the painlessly removed coil in the bin.

Had mine removed a few weeks ago and it was it took a few mins at most. I did get cramps afterwards

Well mine fell out during a very heavy period and didn't feel a thing. I did wince when it was put in though, or more the device that opens the cervix was opened up.

My first Mirena insertion was uncomfortable, and I was nervous about having it replaced.

I didn't even notice the removal, and barely felt the replacement being inserted. A much better experience than the first time!

Mine was actually really difficult for the GP to remove, she was on the verge of referring me (to what, i can't remember, I was stressing a bit). She eventually managed it and I'm not traumatised or anything. Dunno why it was so awkward though, especially after reading these responses.

Thanks everyone, sounds a lot easier than I was expecting!
