What are your periods like with PCOS?

Hi :)

Ladies with PCOS - what are your periods like? I've been recently diagnosed and my periods are still monthly but now really light - with a sudden gush of blood about day 3 - and lasting over 7 days!

For those with children also, did you struggle to conceive? Wondering as my periods have changed that we might struggle! Thanks.

I have long ish cycles at the moment, 34/35 days but they only last 3 days, 1 day is quite heavy but not ridiculous. Think regular tampon needs changing every 4 hours?

I conceived within 4 months and periods have gone back to my normal.

Mine were incredibly heavy and painful, lasting 7-10 days and I went through cycles of either every 3 weeks or 6-7 weeks apart.
It took me 7 years to conceive.

They were irregular and really painful. Then I started taking inositol and now they are much more regular (28-32) and ordinary painful. I also find it easier to lose and maintain weight. I still have to put in the work, but it comes off like a person without pcos would expect.
I am pregnant with my third baby, all conceived pretty quickly.
I really recommend inositol and keeping to a healthy weight, as both will help regulate pcos.

I conceived 3 children fairly quickly/easily. When ttc I had a 35 day cycle with a 7/8 day period (heavy on day 3/4), and between babies had the implant, which meant no periods.

I'm now in my 30's, had the implant in since 3rd baby, suddenly having 35-40 day cycles with periods lasting up to 17 days, with no flow to them. One day heavy, next light, no pattern. Miserable! GP has now prescribed tranexamic acid.

Mine were really irregular, something like every 3 months (not to the day) Usually lasted around a week, always somewhat heavy for first few days then would calm down.

It took me a while to conceive but that was because I didn't have many periods. It may be different for you if you are still ovulating every month (I clearly wasn't).

Never the less I did conceive naturally have one little one, and one on the way so I'm incredibly grateful
