Menstrual cup

I just can't get it right!!! I've been using one for a few years now (I've had a couple in that time) but still need to wear a sanitary towel with it because it leaks.
I've lost my temper today and bought tampons because even though I hate them I never had a leakage problem with them.
Is there a better version of a menstrual cup that leaks less? The one I currently have is a meluna but I've tried others in the past but have had a leaking problem with all of them.

The reasons I can think of that would cause leakage:
> the cup is not fully open after putting in/not fully "sealed"
> the shape or size is not suitable (varies between brands)
> heavy flow so needs emptying more frequently

Could any of these be the cause?

Have you tried this? I had similar issues but have just bought the recommended one.

I think it's just a matter of finding the right shape for your anatomy. My first cup was FemmyCycle which is round and squat. It leaked all the time even when it was practically empty and I had to use a pad or period pants with it. I thought cups were just meant to be like that. But one day I got really fed up and decided to try a different one. I got the Iris cup which is thin and tall. In the couple of years or so of using it, it's never leaked even once. A few times I was out and not able to empty it on time so it was overfull but it still didn't leak. Everything was just kept inside with the cup acting like a plug. Probably really unhealthy and I wouldn't do it deliberately but it's very comforting to know that if I'm in a situation where I just can't do anything about it, I'm not going to have blood leaking everywhere. Because of its slender shape, it's also much easier to insert than the fat, bulbous FemmyCycle.

Ive never had a leak, you must be wearing one that doesn’t fit you properly. It’s not that the brand is bad and leaks, it’s that it’s not right for you, they’re very much not a one size fits all thing. The quiz shared above is the best place to start to find one that does fit properly, and also make sure they’re opening up properly inside and getting a good seal.

I have a diva cup. Never had a problem with it. It does seem it's perhaps not the right brand for you
