Pelvic floor problems PP

Those of you who suffered or are suffering from pelvic floor problems after the birth of DC may I ask what symptoms do you have or had?. I discussed my symptoms with the GP and she says only incontinence issues fall under that category and she cannot refer me to the Pelvic therapy unit. I have reverse issues of tight muscle which started after birth of DD2. Anyone with similar symptoms?

Yes I had this. Very tight and strong pelvic floor. Tbh I think I'd always had it but didn't know it wasn't normal. Then postpartum it got worse, no idea why, and I saw a women's health physio. She showed me how to relax it, and I honestly think that was the first time in my life I'd relaxed it - it felt so weird! Treatment involved stretches and relaxation exercises, and mine is manageable now and doesn't hurt any more.
I should note I did not have any apparent reasons why it was tight. It's often a result of childhood or recent trauma, or stress, etc. I imagine if you have a 'cause' you would have to tackle that too.
You can self refer to specialist physios in many areas, and skip the GP. If not, see another one, or tell yours you suspect hypertonic pelvic floor. Demand referral to women's health physio (sometimes called pelvic health physio).
