Endometrial ablation experience??

I had an endometrial ablation along with a myomectomy (fibroid removal) a little over a month ago. I had one lighter period a few days after the procedureI just started my second period which is also lighter than what I previously was experiencing (think crime scene), but I’m still surprised that it’s just a “normal” period as opppsed to what many women experience which is no periods at all.
for anyone with this experience, did it get progressively lighter with time?
I’ve also got worse cramping associated with my period which I did not have before.
is it possible the body is still sloughing off the destroyed tissue?

Sadly it didn’t work for me either. I was disappointed after reading stories of how peoples periods stopped straight away. Mine were slightly lighter to begin with. I was told to give it a while and they may stop but 2 years on and I am back to square one with almost constant bleeding. I am waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see what my options are. My cramps are worse than before.

That is too bad. Has anyone explained why it may take time to see the results? They destroy the lining during the procedure so I’m unclear as to what happens afterwards whereby on could potentially lighter periods as time goes by. I would have thought it to be immediate.
This second period of mine (5 weeks after the procedure) is significantly improved but follows the same annoying pattern of a 5 day period then I think it’s over then spotting starts for another 3-4 day. It’s all much lighter (no flooding or clots and using 1/5t of the product I was) but I’m curious why any bleeding continues if there is essentially no lining left???
I’m 50 and most certainly perimenopausal….

That's upsetting for you. It's frustrating isn't it? I'm still waiting for mine, it's nearly 3 years of waiting and no further forward and I am scared it will do nothing. It's the fact they insist on doing this first before they will do a hysterectomy yet it takes so long to wait.

Hope it settles down for you.

That is you fortunate you have to wait so long. I had mine done within two months of being diagnosed with a fibroid. Mine iron levels were also bottomed out…..,

I didn’t have to wait long for mine, had it done during all the covid restrictions too. I a, glad I tried it before going down the hysterectomy route as it’s a pretty easy procedure (the sterilisation was worse than the ablation). I a, disappointed that it didn’t work for me but was told it works for 90% of people, sadly I was in the 10% ☹️.

I had one about 6 months ago. I had my first period after and then it’s tailed off to a bit of spotting. I still get all the cramping and PMT beforehand which is frustrating but only to be expected. I hope yours starts to lighten soon.

I have to have infusions every 6 months as they are so bad so totally get it. Our health service in wales is absolutely shameful. I've had 5 pre ops now (well I will next week). They will then say my iron is too low and I need another infusion and then wait another 6 months and start again.

Do you have any follow up appointments? Are your periods more manageable now?

So glad everyone hasn't had to wait as long. I am being sterilised the same time, might be part reason it's longer too. Although I've been waiting since 2014 for that but they agreed to combine them 3 years ago when they said I needed ablation.

Hope you get sorted soon.

I get regular but much lighter periods since the ablation. Unfortunately, since the procedure 3 years ago they have gradually got a bit heavier and more painful (that's endometriosis though). I think it's temporary relief for many. On a positive note, I'm no longer anaemic!
