Grief and Periods

Hi, first time user here. looking for some advice regarding grieving and periods. I lost my dad in early November 2022 to prostate cancer and hospital acquired pneumonia. Since he passed away I've not had a normal period. For me a normal period is 2 to 3 days of heavy bleeding with the the last three to four days getting lighter and then ending but since November I've had periods where it keeps going from brown to red and back to brown every day of the 6 to 7 days before stopping altogether until the next period arrives. I'm 46 years old so I guess I'm probably experiencing perimenopause symptoms but I'm wondering if the grieving process has triggered this change with my periods and I will go back to my normal cycle in time. Any advice/opinions given would be gratefully received.

I'm sorry for your loss, OP Flowers

Stress and trauma most definitely affect the menstrual cycle. It's hard to say whether this will lead into perimenopause without reverting to your normal cycle. It's worth noting as well that some women have found Covid affected their periods, if this applies to you. Are you having any other menopause type symptoms?
