15yr old DD ovarian cyst/possible endometriosis

My DD has been having acute pelvic pain on and off for a while. GP sent for an ultrasound and it has shown an ovarian cyst that will be scanned again in 6-8wks to see if it's gone or grown.
However, the pain is in the middle or the other side to the cyst, so the GP is querying endometriosis and has referred her to gynaecology.
I have no personal experience of cysts or endometriosis. She is finding the pain more unmanageable. A 10 on the scale today she says and painkillers do nothing.
Does this tie in with people's experiences ? Is it really just hot water bottles if painkillers don't work or should I see if the GP can prescribe something stronger?

Endometriosis is certainly extremely painful. I have several friends who had it and it was miserable. I didn’t think it was usual to get it at such a young age though ? If the cyst is growing that could be causing the increase in pain ?

I think it's possible from what I've read. The GP is querying it anyway. Probably not usual though.

Maybe she could try a tens machine? Start off at a low setting and slowly increase.
Or acupuncture.

That's a good idea, thank you. TENS I mean. She's not great with needles.

I have endo & it is a truly horrible & extremely painful condition, I would go back to the Gp & push for painkillers.

ve Had an ovarian cyst surgically removed. The pain was in my belly button and also low in my pelvis. You can referred pain.

My 15yr old has the same…pain, scan showing cysts, referal for gynecology.

No idea how long waiting list is for that. She was referred in December.

Definitely do go back to the doctors and ask for stronger pain relief.

Our DD was first referred for a scan with a possible cyst just before covid broke out when she was 14. She had an ultrasound and the cyst was detected and we were told it was very common for it to go off its own accord. When we returned about 8 weeks later it had gone. The pain that she suffered continued and she was referred to the consultant for endometriosis. By now we were in lockdown and the consultant wouldn't refer for further scans at this stage although said it was highly likely to be endometriosis. She suggested DD take the pill back to back and take a few days break every 4 months or so. The pill has made it much more manageable but she does still suffer debilitating pain every couple of months to the extent that she faints, spends days in bed and suffers terrible nausea. We have been waiting for a referral for the consultant for 9 months now and I've enquired about going private.

That's what she said today. Went really hot, felt faint and like she was going to be sick.

DD has said she goes hot too. I really feel for her and feel so helpless. Hot water bottles help take the edge off. She tried a tens machine but it didn't help her.

I saw her PE teacher and mentioned it to her today, as if she's like she was today, she won't manage. I may need to let other staff know in case she does end up fainting. I will do what I can to get her seen as soon as possible and hope the wait isn't too long up here.
