Paget’s disease of the breast?

I had posted this in another chat but had no response so trying again here.
I would be very grateful for some advice or opinions, I was due a telephone call from my doctor Friday but that hasn’t happened so will have to wait until Monday to call back.
About 4 months ago I began having intense itching in my arm pit, this then spread to my right breast, particularly around the nipple.
I was also having deep pain inside my breast that seems to go from the nipple back, if that made sense.
it’s so itchy all the time and now so sensitive where I just can’t not scratch it, I’m trying not to, and gently sponge it in the shower but I find it hard to leave alone.
thw skin around my nipple has be some ‘thick’.
Obviously I googled (I know) and the first thing that came up was Pagets disease.
However here is the thing, for the last 3-4 weeks my left nipple is also now itchy, no where near as intense as the right but still there none the less.
I read Pagets would only affect 1 breast which does put my mind at a bit of rest but is this the case? Could it be in both?
I have tried changing washing powder, not using it at all, various creams and antihistamines but nothing is helping.
like I said I will be contacting my doctor again on Monday but would be extremely grateful for any words of wisdom while I’m waiting over the weekend.
Not sure if this is relevant but my dad is from a very large family and the majority of them have had cancer, including him, all the females have had breast or ovarian cancer.

And now it's Monday....

So sorry; saw your previous post but didn't reply as I'm only partly knowledgable and didn't want to stop a proper expert from replying.

First, the fact that it is affecting both breasts is encouraging - you'd be seriously unlucky to have Pagets in both breasts at the same time.

However.... your family history is a bit worrying so I'd definitely be insisting on a proper check.

And... related to that, a friend of mine had similar symptoms to you (but in one breast only) and was told by a top consultant that it was 'nothing'. I (ex-nurse) was convinced otherwise and insisted that she got a second opinion where she was, indeed, diagnosed with Pagets, so don't be fobbed off!

Good luck: do let us know how it goes.

I'm hoping it will be nothing but will get it checked out.

Thank you, but I'm afraid it didn't end well for her....

Interesting thread - I have had a rash on my left nipple for months. Intense itching and a little eczema like - saw someone yesterday who said they would want to biopsy it but I needed to use a cream first for 3 weeks. I called Bupa immediately to ask about getting a mammogram ASAP and can get one tonight.

My mother had breast cancer 3 times- the last time was Paget’s disease. It was picked up at a routine 6 month screening for her and she had a full mastectomy after. That was 25 years ago and she’s fit as a fiddle. Do NOT panic. It is extremely rare to get it in both breasts - for some reason you are twice as likely to get it in your left than right. I would def push to be seen considering the history and the length of time. But do NOT panic- whatever the outcome so much is treatable now. It may all be something minor but you need to find out.

I thought I’d update, cannot fault the care I had after doing an econsult.
I was seen by a nurse within 3 days and seen at the breast clinic on Sunday.
they did a mammogram and ultrasound, saw some inflammation which they weren’t sure of the cause, then I had a biopsy.
I should get the results within 2 weeks.
good luck @londontousa keep us updated x
