Bladder prolapse- help only 30

Hey.

looking for some advise.

I am 30- I have two children. My 3.5 year old was born via forceps. I had a 3b tear and episiotomy (opposite sides) went on to have my daughter who is 18 months. Planned c section. Complicated pregnancy but no other issues.

following birth of my daughter I’ve struggled with what I thought were utis- I would get them always after having sex. It would go straight to bleeding. Urine tests would show nothing but it would ease after a couple of days with anti biotics.

fast forward and my doctor diagnosed me with IC and gave me tables for overactive bladder (I can hold it I just feel like I need a wee all the time and there’s a bit left in my urethra I can’t quite get out). These tablets (hyprex and solfenacin) have made no difference.

over the last week my lower stomach has felt really heavy and a bit sore. I also have a bulge at the front of my vagina that is very uncomfortable- I suspect having a feel around it’s a bladder prolapse. I think I’ve probably had it for a while but something has made it worsen.

anyway my questions jsut because I cannot get through to my doctors that I’m hoping you can help me with are- what can I do to treat the prolapse. Is there anything I can do to take the heavy feeling away? Is it going tk get worse? Could this be linked to my suspected uti problems?

I also have super heavy periods which I take tablets for and I get bad hormonal migraines. I have suspected my hormones aren’t quite right but the doctors refuse to test me on that becusse my periods are regular.

my husband has private healthcare which kicks in in may. I would like to hold out if I can until then as I know it’ll be a bit quicker than the nhs route. I’ve been waiting for a hospital appointment for my periods since July last year and haven’t heard anything.

any help or suggestions PLEASE it’s getting me down 😞

For some reassurance I had an episiotomy which had complications and found a bulge in my vagina and thought my uterus or bladder had prolapsed. It turned out to be scar tissue from the episiotomy which with some pelvic floors seems to have gone back up. You definitely need to push for a gp appointment though.

If you can't get an appointment with your own GP id just go to a walk in centre so at least you have some idea of what's going on. Don't just put up with it though

bbb2019 · 27/02/2023 23:01

Thanks @addictedtotheflats thats helpful. I’m pretty sure it’s a prolapse- I have a bulge I can push up/ move and I can feel it when I walk. That’s quite a new development so something has shifted.

yes I will speak to gp. I had wanted to gl private but it’ll be classed as a pre existing condition so that’s not an option.

I have an appointment at the start of April just for a review….. not ideal!

Sorry not to reply last night - tummy bug in our house so things got a bit hectic.

I have a rectocele prolapse, which is where the bowel prolapses into the vagina. I first noticed a bulge after the birth of my first baby, and then it got worse after my second vaginal birth.

I cried after I saw the GP the first time - she was young and so uncaring. But she referred me to the gynaecologist and women's health physio and it's been really good progress since then. The gynaecologist did a scan and examination and explained that physio (basically pelvic floor exercises) would help, as would a pessary that I wear all the time, but in the long term I'll likely need surgery.

I wear a ring pessary that stays in all the time including for intercourse and during my period. It helped massively with the symptoms and feeling of heaviness. The physio has helped too. Look into hypopressives too - a particular form of pelvic floor exercise that now has a lot of evidence behind it to help with prolapse.

It is a shock and you will feel all kinds of emotions, but it does get easier. I don't think about mine day to day any more.

(Btw my original physio appointment was a year from the referral but I got a call six weeks later saying they were doing a catch up clinic on Saturdays and I was seen there a few weeks later. I had considered going privately.)

Hello I have uterine prolapse and Recotocele. Does the ring help with bowel movements? I’m due to be fitted for one next week but heard so many bad things :( I’m only 29 and hate my body atm feel so broken and difformed. Can I ask your age? Have doctors been reluctant to operate ? Can you feel the ring and does it make you feel normal again , thanks :(

Nightmanagerfan · 03/03/2023 08:26

Hello, the ring is very comfortable - I can't feel it at all. I'm 43, had my children at 39 and 41, so I'm younger than you.

The surgery only lasts ten years and you can't do any heavy lifting ever again after so they are reluctant to do it on younger women or those with small children.

Hope you are ok. Are you having trouble with bowel movements? The ring hasn't made a discernable difference to me in that regard and the rectocele causes some symptoms still - eg not feeling like I can fully empty my bowels and having to go back to the loo again.

Bella1994 · 03/03/2023 17:46

Can you have intercourse with it in? Can they tell it’s there ? I’m so anxious about everything atm and makes me feel so so yuk! Yes I always to struggle to pass stools and my cervix is low and have a really heavy feeling in my lower belly. Did you get the right fit straight away? Did the hospital fit it ? Does it hurt to go in? I hope it sorts my issues but I haven’t got much hope

How are you doing? Were all your symptoms related to prolapse?
