Bartholin Cyst - Marsupialization or not?

I’ve had a Bartholin cyst on and off for a year. It’s isn’t painful, and doesn’t cause any discomfort. To be honest I only know it’s there if I touch the area. Anyway, as it’s a lump, I went to the gynaecologist to check it out. She’s recommended marsupialization. Has anyone had this for a Bartholin cyst? What was the procedure and after math like? I’m not sure whether to have that done or given it causes me no pain, just leave it and let it come and go as it pleases. I don’t want to have the marsupialization and then end up having long-term pain or issues after the procedure, and wish I just left it as it was.

I
Did for
An infected cyst . It didn't work long term .

I was in n agony and underwent surgery same day I went in but it came back - just not infected.

I think success rates vary .

Thank you! Did you have any pain or issues down there after the surgery? When it came back, was it painless and did you just leave it be?

I had it done mainly as my cyst was about the size of a golf ball and didn’t want to risk it becoming infected. Not sure if it’s the norm or just because mine was larger but it was packed after draining to keep it open and it was quite painful for a couple of weeks although I didn’t use the painkillers they prescribed. It took 16 days for the packing to start coming away at which point I pulled it out. Was advised not to have sex for 6 weeks but after that haven’t had any signs of it returning and everything is 100% back to normal. No regrets obviously.

Might sound a bit weird but can you kind of knead it to squeeze out the excess stuck in there? I have one, never been infected and I can do this to make it go down. It's never gotten bigger than about grape size. Maybe I’m just lucky.

It’s a good suggestion, I’ll try it! Thank you

Oh wow, I haven’t read about that before, sorry you went through all of that but great news it seems to have done the trick! Good to know you have no regrets
