My daughters just turned 19 and attends uni and has a part time job. She said that her prescriptions where cover till she turns 19. Does she need to pay for the pill or is it free. Any advice thanks

Contraceptives are free. Unless she uses something like the Hana pill without a prescription.

Sorry I thought I’d said, but this is in England.

Contraceptives are free, so she can have any prescription contraceptive pill (that suits her medically).

Last time I was on the pill (2015) they were still free if you see a dr for prescription

you can buy them from pharmacy without a prescription but if she can wait for a drs appointment then she would be better off doing that.

They won't even ask if she pays if the contraceptive is the only thing she's going to collect

She will still need to pick up a prescription and see the GP.

Shes been on them for over 2 years now Dr's said they would help her with heavy bleeding. But they only give her 3 months worth each time.

That's standard OP. I've been on them for years in between children and they won't give me more than 3 months at a time. It's so they can monitor blood pressure etc.

tealandteal · 25/02/2023 19:49

That is standard, they also call you in every so often, 2 or 3 years maybe to review.

Why is she dreading picking up the prescription??
