Anyone ever had a hysteroscopy? I'm having one in 2 weeks. Is it painful? They suggest I take some painkillers before I arrive 🫣

The ultrasound is nothing - I had those in early pregnancy and at the start of this episode. I think what made my clinic hysteroscopy bearable was the diazepam. that left me a bit high and definitely helped me to relax.

But the wait for results is exhausting. I phoned my GP surgery today to make an appointment for the CA125 at the end of the month and the first appointment I can have is on the 7th March so another long wait again after that!

That’s rediculous. I think you’ve been waiting as long as me haven’t you? I am
fed up. I just as going to ring the secretary again but I just haven’t got it in me, I’m too anxious xx

Yes I think you had yours the day before me in January didn't you? When I had it the consultant said that he thought I would have the second procedure before I got the results for the first one which was three and a half weeks later. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow for the first one.

Mrsworried1 · 20/02/2023 22:00

Yes, mine would have been four weeks yesterday! They told me 1-3 weeks xx

I had a letter today about the first biopsy confirming all was clear. The biopsy was taken on the 24th January, the letter was typed on the 14th February and it arrived today so exactly four weeks after the sample was taken.

Mrsworried1 · 21/02/2023 13:32

Glad yours came back ok! I’ve been trying to ring again even though I know they can’t give results Over the phone, but no one answers xx

Yes @IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere I do know an ultrasound is "nothing" in comparison to a hysteroscopy, and wasn't in any way meaning to undermine anyone's experience or anything. I was extremely anxious, having been told by my gynae consultant that they might need to do a hysteroscopy, and in the appointment letter, that even if they did an ultrasound, that they might have to pass an instrument through my cervix.

In the end, I checked at the start of the appointment that it was purely going to be an ultrasound. If they had found anything suspicious, they were happy to reschedule for a future hysteroscopy rather than doing it there and then. I'm usually an assertive person, except when it comes to medical matters - so found it hugely helpful to have read this thread and be prepared to ask questions and decline treatment without anaesthetic.

Again - I apologise if my experience seemed inappropriately inconsequential compared to what others have endured. Having had severe birth injuries and PTSD/PND from my first pregnancy I perhaps am slightly sensitive about cervical examinations of any kind.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 21/02/2023 16:06

@Ralphiesaurus no, I should apologise. I thought you were anxious about the ultrasound. I want to set your mind at rest. I'm sorry. I had several internal ultrasounds in early pregnancy and they were always positive - ie showed that the pregnancy was progressing as it should be so I have no issue with them (other than the awkwardness of stripping below the waist!) but I can understand that for some women even the thought of that could be traumatic.>

I am not assertive in the presence of medical personnel - I'm more likely to beg and plead LOL! Fortunately with a change of consultant it wasn't necessary and the whole process was completely pain free.

I got the results of the endometrial biopsy - everything normal.
So basically it looks like the bleeding is down to trying to get the balance of oestrogen and progesterone right as this appears to be the cause.
I got excited for a while as i haven't had any bleeding since one day after the procedure and thought it could all have been down the the coil I had removed. I started bleeding again this morning so it's not that after all.
